I think there is a difference. Cruz in Pence's shoes would have been more dangerous.

He graduated from Princeton and then went to Harvard Law. He's not stupid. Cruz is very conservative, very ambitious, utterly ruthless, and more than half crazy. You can be highly educated and be like he is. I know people like that personally and it wouldn't surprise me if you do as well.

My significant other saw him give a speech years ago in San Antonio at a convention, came back, described him much as I did just now, said he gave a surprisingly good speech and wrapped it up with what @AroundTheWorld said. "He's dangerous."

What are the chances that republicans say, screw it, let’s convict his ass and he for sure can’t primary in 2024? I think close to zero, but what say you?

When he is impeached the GOP senators will be forced to take a stand. That's what is important.
They will have to publicly come out and say
" It is fine when you try to "find votes" and it is okay to incite a coup. It is okay to send people to hang the vice president and kill the speaker of the house"

They shamelessly did that a year ago. Their constituents did not make them pay for that vote.

    It is different.
    Isn't it?

From what I have learned the Capitol hasn't been attacked in 200 years and the vice president has never been attacked by a mob trying to hang him.(probably?).
A president has never before attempted a coup or an insurrection.

I dont know how the US can go and stay with their head high and pretend that they are exceptional or an example of democracy when there is no punishment for a insurrection.
These things are punished as treason in almost everywhere else in the democratic world.

    Sadly no.

The insurrection, in the end, did not change a single House R vote to contest the EC votes.

Mike Pence is an ignorant, cowardly, weaselly piece of **** in his own right. He thought so much of his Christianity that he set it adrift down the river Styx, so that the Donald could ferry him and everybody else eager to make the journey on down into hell with him.

And even some of us who weren't eager to make that journey.

Wouldn't change my opinion of him one damned bit, whatever switch somebody decides to flip to get his robotic a$$ moving in whatever direction he winds up going in.

Which is a good thing for me...seeing as how he's not going to do anything except what he's doing now (I hate changing my mind about anything once it's made up).

Nothing. And a whole hell of a lot of that. As usual.

A crisis of conscience (if that's what all this is with him now) at this juncture is cold, cold comfort to the dead.

And I would hope that, to those of us still living (who never had this crisis from the very beginning of all this insidiousness), Pence's mealy-mouthed waffling isn't all that warming either...
