As I understand it, Trump can still be impeached after Jan 20 and if convicted he could never hold office again. Even at that, we will need a felony conviction for Don Jr. to help shut their brand down. I'd guess Ivanka and Jarad would rather go private than face the daily ridicule.... from the majority and the radicals that now think the Trumps sold them out. As I understand it, they do not qualify for Secret Service protection after the 20th. (though it can be extended by Executive Order) Almost all presidential families have accepted full Secret Service protection for as long as the law allows. Bill Clinton and George W. Bush even asked for extensions to cover their college-age children for a period after they left office.
If the Dems are smart, they'll quickly pass a Censure motion in the House to get Republicans on record. Censure doesn't require a trial like impeachment does so it can come to the floor immediately once it gets out of the House. Its clear Republicans won't remove Trump so force a censure vote and get them on record.
...can you imagine what power an image like that would convey... ...an emergency joint session of Congress convening in the middle of the mess left after that coup attempt... ...passing a resolution to get that orange piece of **** out of office and off capital grounds before lunchtime? ...reminding everybody and the world that this country doesn't do things like that and let it slide? ...that's exactly why it won't happen.
