That is after they had already breached the other side of the Capitol.

The police did not want to die, so they let them in and attempted to keep the situation from becoming a blood bath.... and it was extremely effective.

The police were aware of the rally ahead of time and were aware that there were plans by extremists to storm the Capitol..... yet, when this was all planned out by federal officials, they did not call for a large enough police force to handle credible claims of storming the Capitol.

Once the the Capitol was swarmed and entered by the mob, the police (in limited numbers) made the decision to let the remaining mob into the building and not resort with additional force.... that happens when there are 30-35K protesters.

So why did they not beef up the police force? There really is no logical explanation. It really does sound like a situation where the President encourages huge numbers of people to come to the Capitol, whips them up and tells them to hit the Capitol where the police force isn't sufficient...... Trump says nothing, the national guard request is ignored....... only the riot did not escalate and the political body was safe and protected.

there were not hundreds of people killed from the BLM protests - not even close.

As of October, there were a total of 25 people killed in ALL protests.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/oct/31/americans-killed-protests-political-unrest-acled

I would agree that one death is too many and that both the BLM and MAGA protests are guilty of endangering and harming human life.

But the differences in the intent behind BLM and MAGA matters too. Intent is one of the bedrocks of determining guilt in our legal system. Under the logic you’ve displayed, a driver who accidentally hits a kid who runs in front of his/her car is equally guilty as the person who tells another they’re going to shoot them and does so.

Furthermore, it is inevitable that people are more forgiving of misdeeds done for a noble cause (BLM) than for a ignoble one (MAGA). The gulf between BLM’s goal (equal treatment by law enforcement and accountability for police misdeeds) and MAGA’s goal (the overturning of a fair election) is enormous. That doesn’t mean you forgive any individual who commits a crime under either banner, but the degree of condemnation for the larger group should be different.

To ignore the nuance in each scenario is to set up the kind of black and white rules you see in school for something like fighting. It sounds good in theory, but you just end up punishing both the bullies and the kids who are defending themselves. Frankly, that kind of judgment is way too simplistic.

Finally, I’d like to note that we all are judged by when, how and on what we choose to argue. Whether it’s your intent or not, claiming that BLM was as bad as MAGA at a time when MAGA has done something unprecedentedly heinous indicates a person who is most interested in defending MAGA. So think carefully about the battles you are choosing to fight.

That's all? I hope the Justice Department revisits that case on 1/21/2021.

People "killed at BLM protests" is a really good euphemism for the fact that white supremacists and boogaloo boys like Kyle Rittenhouse are the ones doing the killings. LIke at least half if not more. Same ****ers who attacked the capital, as they were directed to by their President

I guess they also have a lot of internal Capitol video to go over. Everything shown so far seems to be from other people that were there. Also, not sure of the legality of using flight info data for arrivals to D.C. to use to identify individuals but seems like that is legal after 9/11.

He probably should have gone that way on Wednesday as, with all those charges pending against him, he may die in prison.

If only the Rs had joined the Ds and sent out those $2000 checks, people would not be so desperate to turn in these ... Freedom Fighters.
