That's a great outcome for that guy. He gets to leave the administration 1 month early and comes out looking like a hero.

This is an attempted coup. No doubt. Inciting a riot to close down the capitol and then preventing the National Guard from getting involved - clear attempt to prevent Biden from getting the presidency and trying to illegally hold onto power. This is such a step too far more than the 100 other steps to far - that Republicans must now stand up to this man. There can not be any more of being very concerned.
The one good thing about this is that it not only makes it technically impossible for Trump to have a coup it will exposes how crazy this whole business was. In terms of planning if Trump thought he could over turn the election by rallying he sympathy of the country this has largely blown that. Certainly many of his angry core will still stay with him and probably will cause more violence but so many of those people who weren't paying that much attention and only going along because they don't like Democrats and/or always been Republicans have now seen how ugly this really is. The ranks of the Never Trumpers among Republicans have swelled today.
Knowing some of his supporters (relative and friends), I believe this is right and I hope it is. But I have been disappointed so many time... keeps hope alive
