Strange. That isn't a qualification to get the vaccine before people over 80.

I wasn't saying you were lying at all. I thought the priority was supposed to be for those at high risk.

We're all in TX. We didn't go through the city Houston whose call center was overwhelmed last week. They've fixed that issue

My sister scheduled all three through insurance

I'm a Medical professional and I'm choosing not to be vaccinated. I have created a bubble, essentially with my family. We only stray outside the bubble when I go to work and my sister in law goes to work. That's the best I can do.

My work place has put me at far greater risk than I have myself outside of work. And that's still not a hugely grave risk.

This thing is mutating in South Africa and it's potentially feasible that the vaccine won't have full efficacy for that variant. That's going to happen over and over. People will be getting vaccinated again in six months for different strains.

And that doesn't take into account that we don't know how long the vaccine provides a helpful antibody.

I'd rather wait until they know more about the virus, about the vaccine, and I'm comfortable with it, until I choose to get vaccinated. If I do.

In my uneducated opinion, this vaccine could be a huge blunder in modern medical history.

    YEESH!

I don't blame you all of these are valid reasons, something to think about.

The mutating thing is scary AF.

I respect your opinion. Knowing a lot of people working in the vaccine tech business, I feel more comfortable than you do with what they're doing. It is always possible this virus can mutate and we'll need tweaked vaccines -- that is true. But this virus mutates more slowly than the flu viruses, in general.

I feel the risks from COVID-19, which I've seen via sick relatives and the death of a friend, which I've heard about via long-haulers, and which I've read about in detail in the research literature, far outweigh any potential negative effects from these vaccines. I will be taking one at my earliest opportunity.

Again, throwing no shade. Just sharing my take which I'll continue to update as I learn more.

Everyone is free to make their own decisions, but as someone who was very very careful prior to getting it, and then got it... I believe based on my experience that the risks of a virus far outweigh the risks you'll have in taking a vaccine.

As a medical professional you have to understand the importance of innate immune response. Anything you can do to give your immune system any sort of innate response is key because this virus being a novel virus that your body has to create that immune response for. For me, I didn't feel a damn thing in terms of my body being able to fight this thing until around day 10. That's ALOT of time for the virus to settle in and really cause havoc. The vaccine, at least gives your immune system something to draw from to create that response faster, and hopefully reject the virus outright.

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night taking short breathes feeling like someone was standing on my chest. My doc said the other day that using an inhaler is just going to be something I have to live with for at least a couple months. I coughed up blood this morning too..... AND MY CASE WAS PRETTY MILD.

So look... I get it on vaccines. Especially with folks that have already had it, or just want more data before they can get it in the Spring, but coming from someone that had it, I would urge you to keep an open mind, and just do some more homework in the data. I think we'll know much much more by the time people like me and you can even get the virus anyways.

Where I think you are wrong is in your risks of getting the virus, and the risks you'll have a very negative experience with it. If you don't take the vaccine, you are taking a risk even if you think you are not. So I'd just encourage a pragmatic open mind.

I'm getting vaccinated as soon as it is offered to me. I'm not enjoying being in a "bubble." We've been self-isolating since March and have been extremely careful. It is beyond tiresome and the one good thing I can say about the experience is that it beats the alternative. We're both retired and don't have to worry about our finances, so it's easier for us than it would be for so many others, but I'm eager to move past it. Bring on the shots.

My friend with a PhD in Virology and a few MD friends say otherwise. I respect your opinion but I trust their educated opinion.
