Not defending this trade. Please. What Im saying $22 million for a WR is not the smartest move for the Texans. Hopkins, after all the great catches and highlights, will be sitting at home...watching the playoffs. All the **** he threw at Houston, Im not sad at all for that.

The Texans organization has its head up its ass and everyone can see it. Well, almost everyone.

If Hopkins was traded for someone like Patrick Peterson, Budda Baker, Kirkpatrick or even Chandler Jones or their 1st round pick (8th overall) where the texans could have selected a defensive player, Like Isaiah Simmons, or go for a WR like Justin Jefferson, Lamb, or trading down and drafting CEH, media and people wouldnt have said this is the worst trade in NFL history, and maybe we would still have O'Brien as a HC and GM.

So, its not about trading Hopkins or paying him $22 million, is about what the texans got in exchange for a top 3 WR in the league.

Like the Diggs trade for the 1st round pick, everyone is happy, and has worked well for both teams, and you cant say who is the clear winner of that trade, (at least not this season) and fans are not upset with what they got in return.

Yes, Obrien was a dumb ass. Obviously, DJ is washed up. Ross Blacklock plays like a rookie. We will see what happens with Ross next year.

Still, Diggs didn’t get any near $22 million average for the contract (Bills tweaked his guarantees, moved up money but didn’t extend him) ...and is younger. That is the difference in the return. Their stats are identical.

With our draft capital, if we got the 8th pick, we could’ve traded back for future picks and would be a lot more attractive franchise.

If the Texans cut David Johnson next year, they save $6.9 million in capspace

    Trade saves $9 million

Unless BoB lines up another GM job, they won't find a trade partner.

I don't think DJ is washed up, he was just put in a bad position. The run blocking has been horrible for the most part....coaching is the problem. DJ was not worth Hopkins (obviously), but he can be part of a serviceable run game.

Johnson hasn't been good since 2016, I call that washed up

DJ is washed up. He’s a running back with NO BURST. He missed a few blocks in pass pro too. Maybe he can coach.

DJ isn't washed but he definitely lost a step after his mega usage 2016 season -- he could be productive in the right system as a 1a/b RB but his workhorse days are long gone.

There was a play on that final fg drive that you could tell he was no longer that RB like we needed any further proof. Caught the ball with empty space and it looked like Gary Brown was running. Form wise because any Oilers fan would tell you, watching big boy run was electric.

His biggest strength was always as a receiver. He can still be productive in that role, as it expanded towards the end of the season especially when Deshaun was being forced to throw to practice squad players and 3rd string TE’s (and still putting up 300+ yards).

373 touches (2100 yards/ 20 tds) in one year will break just about any running back.

He doesn't have the burst to be a difference maker anymore. He's just a guy now. Too many miles man.

True but he is still solid -- 1000 total yards and 8 tds in 12 games, but no he's not a workhorse 3 down back anymore.

If we got DJ off the street like we did Hyde last year then I would be ok with his production. Trading maybe the best possession wr in the game for him makes zero sense.

ah yes, but apparently the Dolphin can pick 3rd in the next draft due to the trade and our season outcome. The cardinal has a worldly wide receiver that they can build around for years to come, while we have a bum running back.

I can see u r grasping for the positives that they both missed playoffs, but i still think their future looks a lot brighter. We have watson, but idk how any gm is gonna magically clean up BoB's fk up in a season or less.
