What seems to help mentally for folks I know is taking a road trip vacation somewhere with another family or friends who agree to do it safely and quarantine the week before. Stay in an air bnb that does thorough cleaning before etc. I think those type of calculated risks are worth the sanity to do once or twice during this year. Obviously the more you go the more you risk someone lying about cleaning the air bnb etc. I think everything is risk evaluation. I was very careful though and the one day I let my guard down in what I thought was a relatively safe outing nearly put me in the hospital and I’m still not out of the woods entirely yet on day 11. Even when everyone gets vaccinated there will still be some percentage risk we have to deal with. It’ll be years before people just don’t have to worry about it. I think sometimes you do need a risk for mental sanity especially if you have little ones like I do who really go nuts inside the house too much but that’s just me. Take it from the guy who got it of course.

Getting outside is very important. During the summer and well into fall I went kayaking and biking a lot. I just bought new bindings for my snowboard and am going on sled hills. I haven't decided yet if I will go to a place with chair lifts or rope tows but if I do will make sure to remain masked while doing so.

Up in Wisconsin, they don't do social distancing at ski resorts based on my experience. I hear Colorado is much better in that regard. Surgical masks get too wet from snow - something I've personally neglected to consider. Just thought I'd share a potentially helpful info.
