Yes, my agenda is to go after vet min players that can START for the Rockets. With all things being equal (vet min pay), the GM needs to be pushing all the bennies - e.g. guaranteed starter, no income tax, system to weaponize player so pay raise next season, larger urban population, strip joints, WEATHER, etc. You've caught me, I'm a Rockets fan who prefers starting quality signings for vet min.
Had to bump this thread, because Sterling Brown has been probably the most pleasant surprise for me this season. I had no expectation for him and he's quietly made the most of his minutes. While Tate is more exciting and versatile, Brown has been a silent assassin. Hopefully, this is a step up and not just a hot streak on his 3pt shooting, because its nice to have someone as consistent as him coming off the bench.
His defense has been horrible. Just like Wood it’s getting overlooked because he’s scoring. It’s a problem when you are giving up just as much as you score.
I'm confident his defense will get better as he becomes more familiar with our scheme. Here's a good article that supports what he can do defensively and his impact on the Bucks from last year... https://www.nba.com/bucks/features/boeder-sterlings-sterling-effect In the meantime, Sterling is leading the NBA in Offensive Rating and Effective Field Goal Percentage https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/s...ts/Qualified/points/All/desc/1/Regular_Season
Daryl Morey got us Austin Rivers and Carmelo Anthony. Rafael Stone got us Sterling Brown and Jaesean Tate.
I watched him defend the last couple of games and he has had mental lapses that I believe are a result of the defensive scheme difference between here and Milwaukee. Often times he is with his man step for step and is in good defensive position and then drifts off elsewhere when his man doesn’t have the ball as if he’s looking to switch off to someone else and then he realizes no one switched and runs back to his guy. Once they have a few days to practice on this with the full squad I would imagine this tendency will improve.
I am afraid @malakas will show up in this thread and crush all of our hopes that we have something good in Brown
I think austin rivers would produce in this similar. The Morey ball D’Antoni system handicap ppl. It benefit guys like house and Tucker with limited skill set but Rivers showed in LA that he can produce in the league in a balanced system.
Rivers is having a very good year in NY. The media loves and city loves him. Even Stephen A shouted him out. Rivers is better than what he showed last season.
Rivers is a snake douchebag that I am endlessly happy is no longer leaking stories from inside the lockerroom. Also happy to not hear his crying to the media.
