So I would look at: Eg, Clemons and 2 1st for Jerami Grant and hope a ball handler off the bench becomes available in the buy out market. Or Eg, Clemons and maybe a 2nd or two for Thad Young and Ryan Archidiacano. Been looking into Arch's stat's and play. He could be a better shooting Austin Rivers for us. Shooting a lil over 35% from 3 for his career and is an 80% free throw shooter. Has a bit of size for a 1 guard. And seems a good fit for the hustleboys off the bench.
3 FRPs might be too much or too little. Better just to know that we have enough. We can deal up to 4 FRPs. There will be opportunities to fill Gordon’s role via the buyout market, so I’m not too concerned with that. Some names to watch... Demar Derozan Evan Fournier Patty Mills JJ Reddick
I seriously doubt any of those guys have any chance of being bought out. All play for potential playoff teams; keep in mind the play in extends to 10 teams. I seriously doubt any of the Spurs Pelicans and Magic will have no chance of being a top 10 seed so no way they get bought out.
We can’t make a move for Grant for another month anyway. Same for signing Green. Plenty of time to see how things play out. I seriously doubt San Antonio is a threat for even a play in spot.
Christian Wood turning into a All Star by given a Opportunity to start and perform at a high level. Other Free Agents must be impressed and will want to join the Rockets. Stephen Silas is already Loved and Respected by the Players.
I was saying something like this a couple weeks ago but that was before Wood turned in his legit scorer badge. I would still do it but Idk that it's for the same reason I would've done it back before preseason.
Detroit In: Spencer Dinwiddie, Landry Shamet, Clemons, 2 FRP Brooklyn In: Eric Gordon Houston In: Jerami Grant Houston Out: House Houston In: Austin Rivers Wall / Rivers / Brown Harden / McLemore / Green Tucker / Nwaba Grant / Tate Wood / Cousins
I thought it was Interesting that if you put in Eric Bledsoe, Lonzo Ball, Zion Willamson, and Alexander Walker, It not only the closest fair trade you get from TradeNBA for Harden with matching salarys, but its right at Harden Salary (41.2m) lol.
I know I know no BraBra mentions but he did call this and said he didn’t know what Noel or New York was doing when he signed there. And was a top target for rockets. Get it done stone #NoStoneLeftUnturned
I would absolutely take Noel here. Then would look to see if we could trade Tuck, Gordon and House for a 3/4 combo type. Move Wood to the 4 and Noel to the 5. Have 3 man true big rotation of Wood, Noel and Boogie.
They won’t, he’s playing well for them too. Literally just signed him, not trading him a month later. Maybe next offseason
The emergence of Tate and continued solid play from Nwaba/Brown will make House expendable. I could see him being dealt for a conditional/protected 1st for a team in a bind needing an SF to fill a hole.
They should be somewhere between 3-18 or 5-16 by the end of January. It’s not giving up per se, but I would be surprised if they turn down 3-4 FRPs for him, including their own. If you’re willing to venture into the under the table part of NBA speculation, is it possible Houston and Detroit came to some kind of agreement on both Wood and Grant? Something like if Detroit would agree to SnT Wood and “rent” their cap space to us for a few months (ie Grant), we could get them up to 4 FRPs. I’m not saying that’s what happened, but they clearly had an arrangement in place for Wood before free agency started. Obviously there’s no proof for this, but I thought it was strange that Detroit was willing to encumber their pick for 7 years. Most likely Detroit just preferred Jerami. I’m not saying the above is what will happen...just a theory. Regardless, given that we have up to 4 FRPs to offer, I think there’s potential for a deal, and no other contender would be able to outbid us.
