Sure, that's what he said....yet no one saw ANY of it till he escaped Westbrook. Everyone was still saying "Westbrook has no help" the last season he was there, then he looked amazing the second he left. Wonder why that is.

Shouldn't be shocking, people have their strengths and weaknesses.

He is tight with colleagues mostly.

He isn't tight with other fan bases.

There are always those ahead of the curve and those behind it as well as those that just guess right.

Morey was ahead where Harden was behind (or blinded by his friendship). While the results for teams that Westbrook leads seem like obvious factual clues as to his worth, his individual stats make it hard to believe he cant make a positive difference somewhere, with some team, under some circumstance.

I still scratch my head sometimes wondering how a triple double machine can be a bad thing.

Here’s how I would explain it. Westbrook puts up a nice stat line of points, rebounds and assists. But he has to take a lot of shots to get his points, he rebounds more for personal glory than team functionality and like his scoring, he relies on volume of usage to tally up assists.

As a complete package of stat stuffing, It’s not something ANY ONE player could do EASILY if given the same usage, shot attempts and time with the ball.

BUT when you combine the inefficiency with which he accumulates his counting numbers with his bad turnover and decision making problem to go along with dreadful defense and it all adds up to way less positive impact than you’d expect from the box score totals.

A lot of players in this league could score a bunch of points if they could shoot it 20+ times a game. That part of Westbrook’s game is extremely replaceable and not of much value. While he is an excellent rebounder for his position, it again is production that could be replaced effectively by big men.

Morey once said that most box score numbers are either useless or overrated in term of weighing a player's contribution to winning. One of my interpretations is that there is only one ball. Whenever you produce one of those numbers, you are taking away the opportunity of your teammates to do that. (e.g. When you shoot, none of your teammates is shooting.) So if you shoot a lot, you are bound to get more points. So the question is, when you shoot, are you taking away the shot of another teammate who has a higher percentage shot at that situation. If you are a bad shooter and you shoot a lot, you may score a lot of points but you are a negative to your team.

Of course, to be able to dominate in statistical numbers, you have to have certain talent to do so, getting your shots off, making the passes, getting to the rebounds, etc. So it is not easy to pad your stats. Not everyone can average a triple double. But doing those things do not always produce positive result because you are taking the opportunities from your teammates of doing those things, and some of them can do it better than you.

So helping the team win is more about doing the right things on the court than about producing individual stats. Westbrook's problem has always been not knowing what the right things are. He just wants to do as much as he can.

How great would it be for the Wizards to get their first win with Westbrook resting.

Got it in blowout fashion. It’s crazy to me that such a bad contract could be traded for TWICE in such a short period of time. I thought we were going to be stuck with that cat.

Russ is the only dude in the league with a massive salary and benefits his squad MORE by sitting out.

    Good riddance.
