Imagine a world in which both things are possible:
(1) the Rockets developed an unhealthy team culture around indulging Harden and
(2) Westbrook can't shoot and makes boneheaded decisions with the ball.

No one has road the coattails of his own past success for so long while actually being so bad.

Regardless of what one thinks of his actual play, always thought Westbrook was a stand up dude, who really wanted to win, and told it how it was. So, when he calls this out, I believe him. You see thecsigns of it everywhere. Ironically, I think Harden was finally getting it, playing harder on D, etc. But once that culture sets in, REALLY hard to change it. Sets an example for the whole team. Your best playyer needs to be your hardest worker. Is that Hardrn??

 

I don’t even think he’s declining. He just plays an outdated form of basketball that has nothing to do with winning

 

Harden is the hardest worker on the team, and it’s always been that way

 

Russ was mad he didn’t get to call the shots here and wasn’t pampered like he’d been so accustomed to down in OKC

he finally made it past the 1st round next to Harden...with the way things are looking so far, he might not even make the 8th seed in the East

 

Most of Westbrook's teams would be better off if he didn't "play so hard" given that he's got no BBIQ whatsoever.

I'd much rather the best player be a guy like Harden who is one of the best players in league history than it be a guy like Westbrook who is an absolutely terrible player who kills every team he's ever been on.

hes been declining for years and many of us have been saying that supported by not only the eye test but numbers as well. this is yet another year but all the westbrick triple double stats are just so amazing, which is mostly what the average casual fan can only see
