Do y’all think Woods play has made James harden rethink his trade requests I’m actually wanting to trade harden and start the rebuild, but wondering if harden is now like “damn he good” knowing he still has Wall & cousins to play
For the love of Pete, educate yourself on the basics of basketball before you try to act like an expert on it. Sets and plays/actions are not interchangeable terminology. Understand the difference between Motion offenses (fluid/continuous flow) and Set offenses (traditional/robotic). One stresses teaching concepts and the other stresses set plays. In addition, every coach also incorporates transition principals, half court sets, early offense and after timeout plays into their systems. So the offense with more set "plays" does not necessarily equal better. But even the most simple Motion offenses have more than 3-6 plays (LOL). https://hoopschalktalk.wordpress.com/terminology-actionsplays/ https://www.streetdirectory.com/tra...s/basketball_offense_motion_vs_set_plays.html D'Antoni runs multiple offenses, mostly motion but he also runs set offenses as well. Just like most NBA coaches. Referring to MDA as "Dumbtoni" when you are this ignorant is farcical. https://www.coachbase.com/horns-offense-complete-guide-to-plays-run-by-every-nba-team/ Understanding the play options created by variability, repeatability and exchange ability. https://squared2020.com/2018/10/10/pistol-disrupting-the-defense/ https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...akes-him-the-godfather-of-modern-nba-offense/ Gravity, up tempo and breaking set defenses. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/the-genesis-of-mike-dantonis-gravity-based-offense/ Beyond the break neck speed of SSOL: Delay, slow ball, exaggerated space, ball finding energy, high/half court screens, Iso, volume 3's, small ball (5 Out/Switch Everything) https://www.theringer.com/nba/2017/...ke-dantoni-chris-paul-houston-rockets-defense https://basketball.realgm.com/artic...ntinuing-Revolution-Using-Blunt-Force-Offense https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/2/13/17005988/houston-rockets-offense-explained https://www.championshipproductions...a-5-Out-Organized-Chaos-Offense_BD-05678.html https://syndication.bleacherreport....d-iso-ball-awakening-of-mike-dantoni.amp.html https://www.indycornrows.com/2020/9/1/21406708/how-mike-dantonis-offense-would-fit-the-pacers And finally, another evolution? https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikema...ni-try-to-spreadhead-offensive-revolution-20/
He needs a go to move. As well as he has played he's an opportunistic scorer that feed off passes from his teammate abd not really a shot creater. He may even hit a wall soon when teams starting to figure out his tendencies.
This has been a big deal for me. His defense and rebounding have been sub par. He's basically a wing player defensively. The problem is if you want a big that's a big time scorer and plays defense you'll have to get in line. That's been a pipe dream of every team that doesn't have AD, Giannis, or Embiid.
Wood needs some versatility in his game. He's been great with his limited arsenal so far (dunks and floaters). If his floater is off he struggles to actually get all the way to the rim and finish and he seems hesitant on every single jumper that isn't behind the three point line. That face up pump fake will stop working if he never shoots it from there on occasion. He also needs to be hidden on D until he gets stronger. Decent weak side help defender and is pretty lengthy enough and quick enough to bother guards if he gets switched to them... but until he puts on some pounds in the next few seasons he's just not gonna be a good defender. Cousins isn't a great defender either but he's a big body. PJ and Cousins need to start situationally based on the C matchup. I'm excited to see this man grow as a Rocket. Also like seeing Harden force feeding him. There is no better way to get acclimated to growing into a star. If this man gets 20 shots a game he will eventually figure it out.
we need some height in the frontcourt Silas likes to compare Wood to Porzingis...well, they didn’t have Porzingis out there with nothing but midgets or guys under 6’7...he played next to 6’10 Maxi Kleber in the frontcourt PJ is undersized...House is not a good rebounder...EG is an atrocious rebounder in general, but especially if they were to start him at SF...Nwaba or Tate aren’t enough either Will Silas just go to Cousins at C and Wood at PF?
I hope he does. Defense might be awful. but atleast were not giving up 60 second chance points that way
He needs to learn how to take advantage of mismatch. I do t want thin to jsut be a pick and roll big. He looked like so much more with Detroit and during the preseason
If I had to guess, I would say no Wood's play has not made Harden rethink his trade request. I still see some development in Wood's game, still a little raw and not all the way polished yet. Harden's body language told me all I needed to know last night about how he feels about being here.
Still no proof about Dumbtoni's 6 sets being "standard for NBA level offense". So much blah blah blah, all taken out of your ass.
C Wood is still the team's brightest spot. I think he is a max player already, Rox got a steal of the offseason for sure. Wood's main issue seems to be defense, and tbh I dont want him banging out there cuz he is too thin and thats just an injury waiting to happen. Bruno wpuld have been the perfect complement ideally but he seems to still be 2 yrs away from 2 yrs away.
Anybody know what Wood's weight is now? Is he still really only 214 lbs? I mean, he looks it, but damn, somebody take that man out for some bbq and greezy chicken. John Wall weighs about as much as him and Harden outweighs him by a few pounds. I wonder if they're happy with him at that weight?
He has shown flashes. A lot of what he is doing on drives seems reflexive and not particularly in control. It has worked a lot so far, but I’m not sold on it long term yet. I’d like to see him slow down a bit, (mentally) and focus on making solid decisions and solid moves as opposed to putting his head down and going WB style.
Nah. Even if he doesn't figure out nothing, he will always feast off of Harden and Wall. Maybe if it's just one but with both, he will always be good
