If the season started today, the Astros outfield would be RF Chas McCormick, CF Myles Straw, and LF Kyle Tucker, with Yordan Alvarez serving as DH and one of Ronnie Dawson, Jose Siri, or Jacob Meyers serving as the 4th outfielder off the bench.

At least they acknowledge he’s a creep. His teammates tried to be “politically correct” by saying they back him for coming out with the allegations... but in reality no one inside any clubhouse is going to respect that snitch. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s playing in Korea or Japan next year

The top free agent at every position but 1B is still available. Players start getting desperate if they don't have a contract going into February. It will heat up the next couple weeks.

Yep. Astros may get a catcher or a reliever, but not expecting a bat in free agency until after Springer signs.

Interesting. A little friction between how Click wants to approach free agency and the rest of the Luhnow holdovers.

Thanks for the insight @Nook . It certainly appears that Click is being extremely patient whereas Luhnow and his crew would have been a little more aggressive in identifying their targets and striking earlier in the offseason.... of course, this off-season is different than most and moving slowly for about 29 teams (besides San Diego).

Luhnow would do the same thing. You don’t set the market.

That’s more of a reason to let Click bring in his own people after this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Astros spend some money on a CF then get a cheap veteran for LF/RF on a one year deal. They have high expectations for Leon.

Possibly but I don’t know that it ever got nasty but was more of a debate. Click and others meet and discuss what they want to do going forward. Crane is more inline with locking some guys up and Click isn’t as aggressive on longer deals.

That is interesting, I took it to mean the types of players and lengths of deals... but it could be the wait and see approach like you said. I will ask if I get a chance

    There's no friction,

It's all about if Click can live up to the legacy Luhnow left for him to shepherd over.

I'm willing to wait before passing judgement. But he's certainly not as aggressive as Luhnow was and it's my belief that if you're the Houston market you wont be successful if you aren't aggressive.

Luhnow's model worked, who knows if Click's model will work. But I certainly would bet the house on the Click model.

    This is a mistake.

They need to follow the model that had three 100 win seasons and keep the people in place that contributed to that success.

To do differently differently will probably mean history will repeat itself.
