I still maintain hope that the GOP will be punished for being so openly and clearly against helping the majority of Americans. This one is tough for the GOP to spin as it is pretty simple to understand $2000 is greater than $600 and you can't pull out the usual personal responsibility bullshti for the economic suffering caused by Covid.
Besides feebly tweeting racist blame, what the heck is trump doing to actually make this happen? Calling republican senators? Calling mcconnell? Perhaps at the clubhouse turn he can use that cellphone? Heck, I wouldn't expect him to actually, you know, show up at work and meet with people.
Dude, don't start cross dragging my name into other threads. I know exactly what socialism is, and I don't necessarily agree with the gov't giving out any stimulus money at all. I would much rather have the economy opened up and people get their jobs back. But strictly fiscally speaking, considering how long people have been out of work, $2K > $600 as far as helping with bills.
Before Covid we let the "job makers" make their jobs by handing them some of the largest tax cuts to corporations in our history to the point where it creates this: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/americ...s-pay-a-lower-tax-rate-than-the-middle-class/ And yet as of 2019 right before the pandemic, consumer household debt were at record highs and still 80% of Americans still lived paycheck to paycheck. So forgive people when they don't have much trust in these "job creators".
People see "corporate tax cuts" and immediately think all this does is help the big corp fat cats. Small businesses and solo entrepreneurs also paid less in corporate taxes, significantly less, which directly led to more take home pay for small biz owners and their employees. Corporate tax structure is complicated. Just because a company is paying less in corporate income tax, does not mean they are paying any less in 941 withholding taxes. I do not see any scenario where a company paying less income tax is harmful for jobs.
The vast majority of small businesses are pass-through entities that pay individual income taxes and not any special "business" or "corporate" tax. And guess what? The individual tax rate drops expire in 2021 while the corporate rates are permanent. Guess who had more lobbying influence? Also, your ideas are just against basic economic theory. If we are referring to job creators, a small businesses doesn't "create jobs' with tax savings. If you own a small restaurant and already have sufficient staff to match the demand of the traffic you receive you aren't going to hire another cook or waiter because you got some tax breaks just out of some good will charity to "create jobs". You hire based on need and need is based on demand. So you aren't going to hire more people unless foot traffic to your restaurant increases which means your hiring is dependent on demand of your service or good. That means stimulus checks to consumers is more beneficial to job growth as that actually increases demand which increases foot traffic for small businesses like restaurants which often can mean needing to expand staff. Also, small businesses often aren't these magical entity that provide amazing quality jobs to Americans. Most small businesses hire for low skilled proffesions that pay barely above minimum wage. Not the type of jobs that really break people out of living paycheck to paycheck. Hence why I don't get the masturbation towards small businesses in this country by the gop. Small businesses create a lot of min wage jobs. Awesome I guess?
Receiving a paycheck to merely pay off debts and live paycheck to paycheck is the American dream right?
So that’s 4 GOP senators in support with the 2 GA tools, Rubio and Hawley. Need all the Dems and the 1 of the 2 independents to get this done.
Not when they are shut down. My original point is that lifting lockdowns and allowing people to work does more good to a family's finances than a stimulus check.
Depends on the math. Many governments throughout the world have been paying people to stay home while dopey Americans got $1200 for 8 months and lead the world in coronavirus deaths. Great job!
The % of businesses still shut down is fairly small at this point. There is a much bigger problem of people choosing not to go to the open businesses because ... well, because a pandemic is raging around the country.
