In the minors, he worked backwards a lot. When Strom got a hold of him, Strom told him his best pitch was a fastball, his second best pitch was a fastball, and his third best pitch was a fastball. It is so easy for pitches to work together with a fastball like his. If he can keep his velocity up, his fastball is one of the best in the game with or without deception.

How do you see Click in relation to how Law scouts players?

Siri was a former top prospect in the Reds system before hitting the AA wall. He spent 2020 on the Giants' 60-man player pool.

I like that signing. High ceiling guy. Probably a better prospect than Ronnie Dawson, who is the same age. Siri-Dawson-McCormick is a fine AAA OF.

Jeremy Pena looks legit. Seems like he keeps getting better and better and he looks strong.

Seems like he's on track to be a big leaguer, which itself is a win, but it remains to be seen if he'll long term be more than a utility guy or 2nd division starter.

If he can hit for the type of power he’s shown over the last 18 months then he can certainly be more than a utility guy. He is a really really good defensive player. A Brandon Crawford type of career is certainly within his ceiling.

I'm definitely more a prospect skeptic than you Snake. I agreed the tools are there to potentially be an everyday player and even maybe pull off a Brandon Crawford-like random all-star season. But i don't think the consensus on him is long-term first division starter yet.

At any rate, Brandon Crawford has also been a below-average hitter for most of his career. The guy has a .250/.317/.392 slash line

I am not predicting that outcome, I was just pointing out that Pena has the potential to be a good everyday SS. If I were handicapping Pena now, I would say he ends up being a really good backup SS who just doesn’t quite hit enough to be more than a fringe regular, but who has a long career.

Seems to be a consensus on the top 10, 6 pitchers (Whitley, Abreu, Santos, Garcia, H Brown, and Solis) and 4 position players (Pena, Nova, Barber, Lee). Leon will join that top tier. I think there's a significant drop off between that group and the next tier (Brewer, Kessinger, Santana, Lorenzo, Dubin, Ivey, Torres, Solomon, T Brown). Oscar Colas would join that next tier to make a pretty deep Top 20 that lacks 2-3 of the sort of Top 100 types that make up most good farm systems.

Yankees are NYC’s second best example of inherited money and cheating being used to overcome incompetence
