In other news, I watched Batman v Superman for the first time (avoided it because DC sucks)..... and it wasn’t that bad after watching the new Wonder Woman. I’m excited for justice league now! so glad I didn’t watch all the DC movies right after watching the good marvel ones
I'll be in the minority but I enjoyed it. That being said it suffers from sequel syndrome which has it making everything bigger while trying to keep it grounded. The first film had a good mix of personal moments and big sequences but I personally think the biggest issue is the dreamstone trope. It's never truly explained where it came from or who is really behind it, they talk about in passing but it feels like they needed a big reveal as to who is behind it all to tie it together. I think Jenkins was going for Donner's 2nd Superman, the basic plot is sort of similar but she didn't nail the execution. Gadot, Pine & Pascal were all solid and I thought Wiig was much better than expected. Hopefully they can close out the trilogy with a strong entry. B-
DC is that abusive partner in the relationship, that we say we're gonna quit, but just can't find the moment to.
The Batman trilogy + Joker + 1st wonderwoman + aquaman + first 100 minutes of Man of Steel can go up against any Marvel movie. But yeah, more quality overall from Marvel except for my boy Johnny Blaze.
The re-watchability of those movies are non existent except for the first 2 batmans. Just because the first wonder woman was one of the better dc movies doesn't make it a good movie. Aquaman..? Lulz. Still haven't the desire to watch joker yet.
Man I was excited to watch this...opening scene was cool......then the TERRIBLE overacting... couldn't do it. turned it off 10 mins later.
This movie is BAD. I really thought people were exaggerating or just being trolls but they were not. It's terrible.
I didn't turn it off but fell asleep... When I woke up I asked the wife if I missed anything and if I should rewind, and she says, "please don't."
I am not a big superhero movie person but I can definitely say the Marvel list is better than the DC crap. Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy was the only one I really liked.. Man of Steel (2013) Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) Suicide Squad (2016) Wonder Woman (2017) Justice League (2017) Aquaman (2018) Shazam! Joker was a good film in the same way The Master was a good movie -- great acting by Phoenix (and others) in an otherwise unpleasant experience.
WW84 was average at best. The 80's feel was great and for a minute I thought they would have Superman make an appearance but then i remembered that they rebooted superman so he didn't exist at this point. The thing DC doesn't do well is think about the existing universe and how to best fit the story in. Learning to fly and making things invisible were non-existent in WW in B vs S so why would they be a thing in 1984? Also, not every superhero story has to involve the end of the world, and Batman was not aware of this event when he came about? Last thing, they didn't even use her awesome theme music...
