He probably has the athleticism for center, but he’s historically not been a very good corner outfielder so I don’t know. He’s make or break at this point in his career, so maybe he’d be a little more motivated to put it all together. I still like the potential as a low risk project player, and we need some outfield help, but it’s hard to know what you’d get from him.
If they threw a minor league invite at him that'd be fine but no way should he get a guaranteed roster spot.
If the Astros were unsure of being able to resign a $250-$300 million dollar Springer 2-3 seasons ago they should be ecstatic in a pandemic offseason/season to land him for $125. I’d be shocked if they haven’t offered it but would be more shocked if he’s not going to the Mets.
Doesn’t Kyle Tucker and Myles Straw already fill that need. I’d like a veteran CF’er. Bradley Jr. is the best thing behind Springer.
Glad that he's out of the AL (along with CFM), but just hoping the Jays/Sox step up so the Yankees don't walk away with the AL East while Tampa retools their roster.
SD is gonna be a really solid team. Clevinger, Snell, Paddack, Lamet to go along with Gore as a stud prospect. Tatis, Hosmer, Machado, Myers, Pham etc. Still have plenty of prospect depth as well. EDIT: didn’t realize Clevinger had TJ and will be out for 2021. Will still be a really solid team.
He was sick of waiting for a serious extension offer and he also doesn’t like how fans have treated him being associated with the cheating scandal. He doesn’t want that to be his legacy.
Instead of randomly pulling him in the 4th or 5th, now the Pads manager has to decide when to PH or double switch for Snell. They'll be a fun team to watch.
Huge return for the Rays. They are such a well run organization. That sets the price for ToR SP trades; any odds of Houston being able to add somebody like Luis Castillo just went to zero.
Rays are well run. But Snell is a legit TOR pitcher. And the Rays are coming off a World Series loss. So it's time to rebuild? I thought they would be signing free agents to make another run. They were close to last in payroll in 2020 in all of MLB, and Snell is on a team friendly contract. This is the epitome of cheapness. Also confused that they didn't pick up the option on Morton, and if they truly were looking to cut payroll, just flip him during the season (or during spring training) for prospects. Anyway, I'd be pissed if I were a Rays fan.
Tampa is not rebuilding. They are keeping a highly competitive team together within the tight financial constraints imposed on them by the business side of baseball operations. It will hurt their 2021 chances some. They won't be a push over. They can either do trades like this and remain competitive or do stupid things like the Pirates. Padres are taking advantage of Tampa's limited budget and this makes them one of the best teams in the league. If only the Padres would have hired Cameron sooner, they would not have Hosmer taking up a good portion of their budget for so little production.
TAM has to be trying to move Kiermaier. He’s locked in at 33mil over the next 3 seasons. Helluva defender but may be a bit too pricey for years 30-33, but I guess it all depends on the parameters of the trade. I’d be interested at bringing him in if the price is right.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndic...the-block-following-blake-snell-deal.amp.html Is he that much better than marisnick though? I feel like we could bring back Jake for way cheaper and get better offensive production. Idk though
