I’m glad that you mentioned this. Because years back when Peyton was in Denver and had the record setting season/offense, Gase WAS the hottest name out there. We now know that Peyton- one of the greatest QBs of all time was the conductor of that train. The Bienemy stuff does scare me a bit just because of what Gase has ended up being. Bienemy talks a good talk though and seems like a better leader than Gase. I hope Cal gets this one right.
Peyton was already an all pro QB before coming to Denver. We can all agree that Mahomes benefited from a year being a backup in KC. We just don't know how much development came from Reid, Nagy, Childress, Alex Smith, Beienemy, or Mike Kafka. But Reid and EB and Kafka have been there for Mahomes' entire climb to greatness so there's something there. He didn't just dip in for a year to ride coattails.
Watson will already be elite/developed before whoever comes here to coach him... which is why I'd rather they have an experienced play-caller for the offense and focus on a head coach with a defensive mindset that will leave the offense to Watson/OC to run
https://www.si.com/nfl/2020/12/28/m...lliott-cowboys-win-sam-darnold-noise-steelers The situation in Houston is interesting, in that questions linger over whether Korn Ferry exec Jed Hughes or EVP of football operations Jack Easterby will have more sway as owner Cal McNair works to find a new GM and coach. We mentioned last week that Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy was recommended to Deshaun Watson by Patrick Mahomes, and there’s another connection along those lines too—ex-Chiefs and Browns GM John Dorsey has been tied to Hughes in the past, and it’s expected he’ll get a look. Dorsey and Bieniemy, of course, were together in K.C. (Chiefs director of football operations Mike Borgonzi would be another potential GM pairing for Bieniemy).
Simply amazing. You have Cal straight up saying Easterby won't be part of the GM decision process yet this leaks. You also had Cal saying he won't be GM, yet there was another leak a few weeks ago saying it was being considered. Sounds like Easterby is leaking this to the media to muddy everything up where guys either decline or Cal eventually folds and names him GM. Almost identical to "accidentally" tampering the Caserio hire.
I was listening to a sports station from San Francisco mostly because the morning guys were playing the same JJ Watt audio every 3 minutes. Like did they masturbate to that clip over night? Yikes! Anyways their version of Larry in Strafford calls up saying Kyle Shanahan should be fired and Saleh should take over as they've more losing records with Kyle than winning records. I started thinking... would Kyle jump in the lead in the race to be the next Texans head coach?
If Kyle Shannahan became available he’s not only the top candidate you do everything you can to get him
Dodds--bring him home Cal... https://texansunfiltered.com/articles/houston-texans-potential-gm-candidate-1-ed-dodds
I'm with Dodds all the way. I'm just hoping Dodds is up for the challenge and wants to be our GM, as there are other arguably more lucrative options out there.
