I'm not anti-stats. I think they are great tools, and they can help show how a player like Harden is a great, great player. It's just been the same for years, where one side obsesses over the playoff mishaps, one obsesses over certain advanced stats. I'll be happy when that moves to another forum.
Yeah, perfect list, with Curry, Shaq and David Robinson ahead of Dream haha. Isiah thomas 47, Moses 23 , and so on. This is the kind of list that a 15 year old will make looking at stats. Now i understand why you are so clueless.
He is not to me. Who of this guys are worst than him ( in no particular order) Jordan Kareem Hakeem Lebron Duncan Bird Magic Moses KG Isiah Thomas Durant Dirk Kobe Shaq Bill Russel Havliceck Oscar Robertson Jerry West Dr J Wilt Chamberlain You can add Barkley to that list, who i think was better than Malone. All those guys won championships and dominated the league. Malone was a great player, but he never won anything .
Since harden and curry both became mvp caliber and had good teams starting in 2014-15, curry's PER actually drops more in the playoffs than harden's. He just has good enough teammates/good enough injury luck that he won a title and got Durant to give him 2 more. Durant does slight better than harden/curry but still sees a drop. LeBron/kawhi are some of the few that don't drop and kawhi just saw how the other half lives with playoff P and lebron's numbers usually dropped early in his career when he maxed out in the regular season but don't now that he chills (kawhi also relaxes in the regular season). Harden has some hilariously bad stat lines in a couple of playoff games but otherwise the rockets relative playoff success can't be explained by their best player being as terrible in the playoffs as everyone claims.
Only the bad ones are important? Have they really? Arguably his 3 worst playoff moments were game 6 against the clippers, which we won, game 5 against gsw in 2015, a series that was a lost cause, and game 6 against the spurs, which at best helps us get to the WCF to get obliterated by the warriors. He was good in the only 2 series that could have led to a title.
In the 2014 postseason, he averaged 29.6% from the 3pt line against Portland. We lost that series. In the 2016 postseason, he averaged 31% from the 3pt line against GSW. We lost that series. In the 2017 postseason, he averaged 30.8% from the 3pt line against the Spurs. We lost that series. In the 2018 postseason, he averaged 24.4% from the 3pt line against GSW. We lost that series. Harden has had 8 postseasons as a Rocket. I don't think his playoff failures have been exaggerated at all.
You’re cherry picking stats to fit a narrative. He’s been good and has only improved as his career has progressed. He hasn’t shot 3s well in the playoffs but his numbers have been good. You are exaggerating and of course you know that.
Considering his game is predicated on 3 point shooting, don't you think his postseason drop in 3pt% is a big deal? Especially when it drops to the point of being terrible and has happened in half of his postseasons in Houston?
I find it interested that people will pick Bad Games. . . Bad Moments and use them to define a whole playoff run Rocket River
Game can’t be predicated on 3s alone when he’s among the league leaders in drives to the basket yearly. If you said falling in love with the 3 and not driving when he should, that’s different. Stephs game is predicated on 3s, Harden has more tools. He should use them when the shot isn’t falling more.
Are we sure that the pre-KD Warriors teams weren’t just the Hamilton/Billups Pistons teams with better media coverage? A bunch of #2 guys with awesome chemistry and some luck?
I didn't say his game was predicated on 3's alone. However, more than anything else, it's predicated on 3's, and that becomes a big problem whenever his 3pt% tanks in the postseason.
This needs to be spammed to everybody in the media twice a day for a month. But but he had double digit turnovers in the close out game? Right @fchowd0311? I still remember how nobody could check him down the stretch in that game and I knew he was something special.
