haha. no s*** talking brah! im just not sure that the beach boys are "rock"? if they are, then they definitely belong on the list.

and IOTKT is the 2nd best fugazi album! i picked that song b/c i listened to that album earlier this week and it was in my head, but i could have also gone with smallpox champion or great cop. either way, they definitely belong on any list of the greatest american bands.

Rock was invented in America though. Berry, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, etc. Same with punk rock.

Nobody has mention The Doors...and that's good, unless you're watching Apocalypse Now

LA Woman is a good song, this is their best though:

For sure. The Beatles were influenced almost entirely by American pioneers of rock music. It definitely is American born.

That being said those who really nerd out on music theory etc. will probably lean towards almost all British rock bands as their favorite or most important rock bands/artists. Pink Floyds name is literally inspired by two African American blues rock pioneers but who will people say is the more influential band/artist?

Me personally I’ve always been more musically interested in Brit rock from the Beatles (st pepper era on) to Bowie to Pink to Radiohead. However I totally think American rock has its place in significance for sure. Whenever anyone plays either a Tele or a Les Paul on the bridge without heavy distortion but high gain.... that’ll always sound like American rock to me and those who have an ear for it.

I think where American Rock really fell off on the respect spectrum is when Nirvana came on the scene and everyone became enamored with washed out distortion. Because of that it really had bands sticking to very traditional pop song formulas and really created a very boring era for American rock music. But in the end it’s all just preference.

It’s either Mr. Roboto or We Built This City at number one.
