Justin Reid has had a weird, mostly bad, up and down year, but JJo is NOT better than him. What a joke.
Statistically yes. There are a lot of qualifiers here though. I wouldn't have been furious if Tannehill made it instead. You deserve credit, not blame, for playing well with great talent around you. I can also understand why Watson made it instead.
Justin Reid sucks this year. He is carrying a 60 grade from PFF while JJO in his old age is still at a 65 with one INT to Reids ZERO. Try again.
If you seriously think JJo is a better player than Justin Reid then... I mean alright bud. And quoting interception numbers? I guess JJo is on Richard Sherman's level. I guess 2 years ago Sherman was one of the worst corners in the league → ZERO INTs!!! Continue living and dying by PFF like that is the end all be all. He is on a garbage defense so he played poorly. Go back and look at his career and trajectory prior to this season. Or just continue being stupid.
Statistically, it's very close, and Watson has more yards. If this were a traditional Pro Bowl and Mahomes pulls out after the Cheifs make the Super Bowl Tannehill would be the replacement.
You're right, glanced at an espn article and they had Duane Brown's name highlighted in a paragraph, but it was about snubs. Reading is fundamental.
You're creating a strawman by trying to exaggerate my argument. I dont care about Richard Sherman. I never said JJo was on his level. YOU DID. Justin Reid has sucked at tackling this year, is an average cover guy and he should be the first guy to tell you he had a down year in comparison to last season since the numbers bear that out. There is no shame in that. I guess using interceptions to add context to the debate was bad - you could bring up the tackling numbers to prop up Reid I suppose or his two sacks, but JJo had more passes defensed and interceptions than Reid in a part time role.Take that for what its worth. If you have another metric that is as widely used as PFF then link it. Football Outsiders used to be great before the pay wall. You telling me Vernon Hargreaves, Philip Gaines, Keon Crossen, John Reid or Mark Fields is better than JJo? Hey at least JJo never juiced like Roby and was more durable than Conley.
I'm definitely not trying to downplay Tannehill. All things considered, he's a underated qb. But it's still just funny to see butthurt Titan fans.
You used interceptions as one of your metrics to prove a point. It's like saying Matt Ryan is better than Russell Wilson because he's thrown less interceptions. And talk about Straw man??? When did I ever mention Hargreaves or anyone else except Reid? Roby is much, much better too, but he's been out so I didn't include him. If you can't figure out that Reid has played well below his talent level this year bc of scheme and shitty teammates then I don't know what else to tell you. I never said Reid had a good year. Maybe you could go back and read my original statement and you would know that. This year has been an anomaly to what he normally is. Either way, I am tired of arguing with a 14 year old who plays madden and thinks JJo at this point in his career is better than Justin Reid. Give me a ****ing break.
You are "tired of arguing" because you have a flawed argument and are looking for way out. You chose to bring up a HOF in talks about interceptions LOL when all I did was compare ex teammates and current ones on the team. Reid playing below his talent level has nothing to do with his teammates. How does that make sense when Reid is out there getting burned and whiffing tackles? Last year Reid graded out at a 76. This year its at 60. Not sure what to tell you if you want to continue to make excuses for him. edit: 36 year old Jonathan Joseph has had a better 2020 season than Justin Reid. That is the debate.
Comparing JJo to Reid is like comparing Fulton to Nick Martin. At the end of the day they both(and in truth all 4) had really bad years.
no doubt. Its like choosing a dookey sandwich over a urine flavored sports drink. My take is that JJo would have been the best defensive back on this team at this point of the year. Im not riding with that juicing ass b**** Roby anymore, cant trust a cheater like that. Is Conley ever going to be healthy? Not like he was some star in the making either. JJo would have been cheap and retired a Texan, but the powers that be felt like the fanbase that he was done, and loe and behold he had more left in the tank. This year was dead on arrival, and nothing would have salvaged the mess that Obrien created defensively so in the end ranking guys like Justin Reid and Jonathan Joseph is actually kind of funny and puts the horrible season in perspective.
At this point he prob would be I agree. If the secondary was fully healthy JJo still wouldn't be here, Roby, Conley, and Vernon would still be ahead of him. And no he has nothing left in the tank, he was cut by Tennessee cause he either couldn't stay healthy or was playing horribly and since joining Arizona their subpar defense has gone in the tank.
Thats fair. Hopefully Reid has a bounce back season next year. I see him as one of the more overrated players on this team by fans.
Here are the qualifiers I was talking about. How many comeback wins have Tannehill/Watson had this year?
Higher passer rating. Higher pff rating. Signficantly more yards per game. Signficantly higher completion percentage. Signficantly higher yards per attempt. The areas Tannehill lead in are miniscule such as only having one else int. Doesn't have the best running back in football and instead has the worst rushing attack backing him up in the league along with the worst defense in the league.
