    Talks never progressed @Os Trigonum

Rockets target Michael Porter Jr. in potential James Harden trade, gained no traction with Nuggets, sources say

The Nuggets were one of numerous teams the Houston Rockets called to gauge interest about a potential James Harden trade. Those talks didn’t gain any traction, however, a league source told The Denver Post.

Houston’s interest centered firmly on Nuggets small forward Michael Porter Jr., the source said. Those talks haven’t materialized into anything substantial. Any potential deal would have to include Gary Harris or Will Barton, if not both, to match salaries, which would leave the Nuggets extremely thin on the wing.

As rumors circulated about a potential deal to acquire the disgruntled superstar, another league source told The Post that Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray was never included in any discussion. His transcendent postseason run in Orlando reaffirmed why the Nuggets gave him a max contract extension last summer and underscored why they view him as a franchise cornerstone, along with center Nikola Jokic.

A Harden deal would fundamentally disrupt the core Denver has carefully built and alter the unselfish ethos of the team.

ESPN first reported on Monday night that the Nuggets, along with the Nets and 76ers, have had trade discussions with Houston regarding Harden.

The Rockets are seeking an All-Star level player, in addition to other young assets, be it prospects or draft picks, for Harden, according to The Athletic.

If this is even remotely true (and I don't think it is), we should hold onto him and wait it out. Maybe the entire season if need be.

I kept saying MPJ was the target. He's better than Jamal Murray and you aren't getting both. Murray isn't even worth it and the Nuggets wouldn't want to lose him. The fact that MPJ is the player we would want but doesn't make the money work, makes it almost impossible to make a deal this close to the season starting. Same with the Heat, Brooklyn. Boston and Toronto? Yea I don't like those deals much but the main targets make the money.

Ben Simmons has always been the answer. 2 team deal. The main player makes the money. They have the exception for PJ. They have the young talent and picks.

The sad part is if this Ben Simmons trade is real, people are going to think Basketball Rehab is legit. Broken clock is right 2 times a day I guess.

Rockets seem to not like the Sixers current offer if they are calling other teams looking for other deals.

Obviously. If they liked the offers on the table they'd accept one.

You find other offers that are acceptable and you make the Sixers meet your demand and if they won't you accept another offer or you hold for the season. I just don't see a mid season trade with anyone without a big salary coming our way. $41 million is a lot to match. The Rockets would probably be willing to trade PJ to make the room for the extra players that would need to come in but it's not easy.

This team can only hold 13 right now because of Clemons being a weight on the books. It's a weird situation.

I’d much rather gamble on MPJ’s potential than trade for Ben Simmons

if it’s between Philly and Denver, I’m going Nuggets

This makes me wonder if the Heat are feasible in a 3 team deal. The Heat get Harden but some pieces go to the Nuggets for MPJ. Herro, KZ and a 1st for MPJ? Rockets then get MPJ from Nuggets and Robinson from the Heat.

Maybe a three team deal at the deadline or next year but not on the eve of the season.

I think he's traded to Philly before tip off tomorrow or he makes the whole year.

    Just a guess.

Agreed. It’s hard to get what we want without doing a 3 team. Simmons could also be a flip to Denver for MPJ and his lower salary might make it more feasible. Philly just doesn’t have much in terms of secondary pieces I find interesting.

I want to agree with you, but MPJ's back problems are a scary thing.

Maxey and Thybulle would fit here long term very very well. Simmons is vastly underrated here. Philly would be the best possible outcome for both the Rockets and James Harden.

Looks like you might be stuck here with us for the year.

We'd be taking MPJ AND Herro AND multiple firsts in that scenario.
If the Heat can't trade firsts, then they can't lace the deal with multiple 1sts to get it done.

    Lowe:

Woj reported they want a deal done sooner than later, which I think is true contingent on we want a deal we like. I don’t think they’ve gotten anywhere with Brooklyn. They don’t appear to like Brooklyn’s players as centerpiece players. I don’t even know they’ve gotten to the point over haggling of picks. I’ve talked to a number of teams who have had a call with a Rockets and the call was not very productive. If it’s moving fast with one particular team, I have not heard that yet.

Rockets 'Targeting More Players Than Teams' In James Harden Trade

The Houston Rockets may be targeting specific players they want to acquire in a James Harden trade as much as they are looking to send him to a specific team.

"There's been a lot of rumors, and I think they're true, that Houston in the Harden stuff is targeting... I think they're targeting more players than teams. One of the players that's on their list to target is Michael Porter Jr."

According to Mike Singer of the Denver Post, the Rockets' interest in a trade with the Nuggets "centered firmly" on Porter.

The Nuggets were one of numerous teams to call the Rockets with interest in a trade for Harden, but sources tell Singer that those talks haven't gained any traction.

Media reports have consistently indicated the Nuggets consider Porter to be untouchable in trade talks.

Yeah let’s trade Harden for a soft youngster who admitted he almost quit basketball due to back issues.
