The better question is: Why do we need another thread to talk about Miami vs Philly trade?

Normally I would agree with that direction .... but you are forgetting one thing in this case - The Rockets don't own their future draft picks , they owe them to OKC with top 4 protection on most.

Even if they have the worst record in the league , there is a one in five chance they ship that pick to OKC as the worst they could do draft pick wise is #5.

We'd all be sick sending OKC a top 5 pick.

    The odds is not 1 in 5, it's 47.9%, close to 1 in 2. http://www.tankathon.com/pick_odds

Everyone poopooed the New Jersey trade, but if you compare Nunn, Herro and Robinson they are not better at this time than Levert, Allen and Dimwiddie who are more proven young vets and there is probably only 50% chance they will be as good, much less so fantastically better as hoped for..

If you actually look at 2 of the more successful superstar trades (interestingly both the same team) CP3 and AD, both of them traded for support players and then drafted their next superstar in AD and Zion. Maybe it's better to build the surrounding pieces first then suck just enough to draft your guy. If you get the central piece first you might be stuck in 7-10th seed limbo and then it's much harder to get the other star.

Herro>>Simmons and might be the best we could do.

with many many unprotected picks in the mix.

    I hope Harden stays.

He averaged 15/4/2 shooting nearly 40% from 3 over the last few weeks. As a freshman.

    Thats pretty outstanding, actually.

He was one of the best players on a team full of 5* athletes and other current pros.

You’re right, both trades are bad for us.

Herro had better numbers in the playoffs at 20 than when harden was 20 and played in the playoffs ,or are you too lazy to look up stats. You think just cause they white they cant play. These dudes are tough and in the Herro packakge its not just herro its duncan too .They go great together and they can develop together.

    This.

Im a big Tyler Herro fan though. I think the dude is going to blossom. Add in Duncan Robinson, olynyk and picks and I’d feel pretty good about this team.

That’s why the Rockets should trade with the Pelicans if that is an option. They have a plethora of high upside young players and picks.

Despite my skepticism of Herro and Robinson. Interesting post.

Of course there is always the counter example of folks drafting high in the lottery for roughly 10 years without hitting it big with a Zion or an AD.

A core of Wood and Simmons won't get far but a core of Wood, Herro and EMONI BATES is gonna destroy in the future. Hell, even Wood, Herro and Cade Cunningham fit together perfectly.

Again troubling narrative by these fans cheering on Herro and Robinson as if they are seasoned superstars. Reminds me of how probably same people clamored about Dragic being the next great star in Houston when he was here. Not sure why although I do have a theory. Not for today lol. Unfortunately Right now it comes down to taking good role players with the Nets or a Ben Simmons package. Heat deal ain’t it.

That’s fair. Still, Harden will be traded, the return will leave us all wanting more, and we’re unlikely to see the level of success this team has had in recent years for a long time to come.

I guess we still have each other.

Welp, they got beat in last year's post season for the same reasons I explained. We don't expect anybody to be perfect, but is trading the best offensive player in nba history for a guy who refuses 2 shoot really the answer

Reports are just reports. If Stone is going to get maximum value on Harden he has to maximize leverage. In order to do that he needs as many pursuers as he can possibly drum up. If it's just between the Sixers and Nets it becomes easy for a team like the Sixers to say, "Ben Simmons isn't enough? Well he's better than anything the Nets can offer you. Deal with it."

The more offers that are out there the better. And the Rockets can't afford to let it out that there are any of them that they have no interest in.
