Yesterday I got some food from one of my favorite Indian Restaurants in the Twin Cities. They do a a broad range of Indian food including Northern Tandoori favorites but one of their cooks is from Tamil Nadu so they do some really good Southern Indian specialties. Like dosa, including a 'pizza dosa', and prathas. I used to like mostly Northern Indian foods like kabobs and naan but living in Singapore got me onto a lot of Southern Indian food. Roti prata / pratha is one of my favorite foods and always get it with mutton curry when I go back to Singapore. Houston has a lot of great Indian food both Northern and Southern so what do Clutchfans like?
Im not cultured enough to know the difference in the regions of Indian food. I do love me some Indian food though. I usually go hard on it for 2 or 3 days straight and will be good for another 2 months without it.
One benefit of having to travel often to London for work (pre-Covid) was the amazing British Indian food. Think it is more like American Chinese vs traditional Chinese but love: naan, Lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, chicken kormas, lamb rogan josh, black daal lentils, etc so assuming that is more northern? I’m a fan of London Sizzler here but it doesn’t touch the UK curries
Any good recipes? Love it, but its never been a cuisine I cook much at home, and I really don't know why.
You need this badboy (don't have one but I've used their products before, quality stuff): https://www.webstaurantstore.com/av...MIh6KV7eja7QIVi8DACh3rZgYhEAQYAyABEgLdaPD_BwE
I find actual Indian food overall to be overrated, even from the highly ranked restaurants like Rasika in DC. My favorite Indian dishes are from the UK (chicken tikka masala). Northern food is over represented but I also like northern food a lot more than southern food from my experiences in India, UK, and here. I avoid roti, sambar, idly, and dosa. I like cream based curries and meat biryanis but most Indian food is vegetarian. Fish curries are OK. It’s not that I think Indian food is awful but it’s not Earth shattering good either. I feel the same way about Chinese food. My top 3 global cuisines are Japanese, French, and Mexican (including TexMex).
