Was the background pointed white hood on the doctor intentional?

4 out of 500,000 or so...is not bad. They expect allergic reactions. Everyone is fine.

Getting Republicans to take the vaccine may be the biggest challenge. Vaccines don’t work as well unless the vast majority of the country gets it. My understanding is that the effectiveness mainly derives from eventual herd immunity, not so much the protection any individual might get from getting vaccinated.

I think if the vaccine is required for travel it will prompt more to take it. That, and the fact that many of them are selfish and only care about themselves. You see how no mask selfish Pence already got the vaccine. He's out of there in a month. They should have skipped him. He doesn't deserve protection before anyone over 70, the elderly, medically fragile, or those in nursing homes and long term care facilities. In fact, he should be last in line along with Trump and all those who refused to wear masks.

There is heightened attention for serious side effects during these emergency use. Probably not missing much due to that.

Purple are allergic to things. It would be like not eating peanut butter because someone else is allergic to it.

Vaccinated person from this vaccine is 100% protected from severe covid symptoms. Herd immunity is to protect those that haven’t yet or can’t take the vaccine.

Though it’s likely, there is still a question if this vaccines reduce or stop the spread - are vaccinated people still infectious? If not, there is no herd immunity and in fact, might help the virus to spread faster.

When I used to work at a hospital they had made getting the annual flu shot mandatory. Hospital staff could opt out of it by citing allergies (I believe the flu vaccine is partially made up of chicken eggs or something, so if you have an allergic reaction to eggs, you could opt out) or religious reasons. That's what most of my former co-workers would opt for to avoid the flu vaccine every year. I still got it cuz' I hung around a lot of high risk people that could be sent to the ICU for even something small like the common cold, so I've never been one to **** around with not getting a vaccine, less so for myself, but more so I could be around the company of people I really wanted to be around.

What’s the source on 100% effectiveness?

I thought the 95% figure from the trials meant that a non-vaccinated person is 19 times (95/5) more likely to get COVID than someone who is vaccinated. And that’s assuming same adherence to guidelines.

    moderna:

Vaccine efficacy against COVID-19 was 94.1%; vaccine efficacy against severe COVID-19 was 100%

pfizer: (not 100% against severe cases after 1st dose; didn’t said but imply none after 2nd)

    https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2034577

    BNT162b2 was 95% effective in preventing Covid-19 (95% credible interval, 90.3 to 97.6)

Among 10 cases of severe Covid-19 with onset after the first dose, 9 occurred in placebo recipients and 1 in a BNT162b2 recipient.

What's your point? A handful of people have had an allergic reaction. 300,000+ and counting in the USA alone have died from COVID while tens of thousands more have suffered far worse than an "allergic" reaction.

Yep I noticed that right away. I figure it's just coincidence but feel bad for the doctor.
