Hospitals around the country have been thrown into confusion after the Trump administration informed state after state that they'll be getting 25%-40% fewer COVID vaccine doses next week than they'd been expecting. Why it matters: The snafu reveals communication gaps between the Trump administration and Pfizer, and between the administration and the states. What's happening: A senior administration official told me that the states had been relying on planning numbers that were reduced because Pfizer committed to supplying fewer doses than originally forecast. Pfizer said in a statement that it is "not having any production issues." Is this Trump trying to hoard the vaccine or just making **** hard for Biden.
If Trump is involved, I would expect blue states get reduced allocations and red states get extras. It's the only way his lizard brain / mobster ego operates.
Rumor has it that Giuliani and Trump Jr. were seen selling them out the back of a UHAUL truck in NYC for $500 a pop.
This would be the one thing I would be shocked about. I understand Trump will want to burn the government down to the ground on his way out. I understand he'll put land mines all over the government to try and cripple his presidency with full Republican support. What would be just unconceivable would be Trump sabotaging the vaccine deployment and leading to more and more deaths & economic catastrophe. I hope this is just a supply chain error, and nobody is F-ing with the vaccine just out of spite & promotion of herd immunity to kill off all the "unwanted's" Nazi final solution style.
Got to get that money. This whole thing sounds crazy I bet its a FU to Phizer because they did not announce before the election.
Wrong word choice. It would be infuriating, but shouldn't be unsurprising. I've been trying to contemplate why the Republicans and Trump are so hell bent on herd immunity that will wipe out over a million Americans in the next year or two. Only thing I can really think of these reports that came out in April & May that completely changed the approach with Covid: https://www.npr.org/sections/health...s-racial-disparities-look-like-state-by-state https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanres/article/PIIS2213-2600(20)30228-9/fulltext Am I crazy for thinking much darker here? I hate to make Nazi comparisons, and encouraging deaths of "unwanted's" in society isn't as bad as literally gas chambering millions of Jewish people, but it's still in the same spirit. Why else would you want people to die? I'm open to being told i'm wrong, and this isn't just an encouragement of killing off people in our society that those on the right believe are weighing them down. I'd like to think we are better than that.
I have one view of Trump. I have no doubt he would enjoy watching people die and things get worse if he could put the blame on Biden and Democrats. It's psychopathic, but then again.....
This could very well be the case. He’s operated this way throughout his Presidency. He’s an incredibly vile man.
Can't rule out vanilla incompetence with this bunch, esp when they are focused on more pressing matters like fund raising and pardons.
Sounds like the typical execution incompetence and/or confusion we have come to expect from this admin. “Pfizer is not having any production issues with our COVID-19 vaccine, and no shipments containing the vaccine are on hold or delayed. This week, we successfully shipped all 2.9 million doses that we were asked to ship by the U.S. Government to the locations specified by them. We have millions more doses sitting in our warehouse but, as of now, we have not received any shipment instructions for additional doses.”
trump should be impeached for criminal incompetence. Instead, trump and the Republican Party is still trying to steal the election. Incredible. Where are the voices from trump's supporters? When will we hear them calling out in outrage at what trump and the Republican Party are doing? When someone dear to you dies from COVID-19? You stupid bastards.
This is the proper allocation of resources.,,rich and powerful first access, Distributing it to the most needy is "rationing".
In this case I think incompetence is the most likely explanation. Trump is checked out from actually governing and his administration is stocked with people with little to no experience in the fields they are supposed to be managing. We've already seen a lot of chaos and confusion in this Administration on many things so I doubt see why this should be any different. That said I wouldn't put it beyond Trump to have some malice in screwing things over for the Biden Admin by dragging out the vaccine distribution.
