Is the S not in high demand or something? It's been in stocked for awhile. The PS5 be going quick lol.

 

It's the weaker, discless version. Don't nobody want that ****. It's good for kids and people who just want a media device that games every so often.

 

Actually, there is demand for the S. And there probably more stock because demand is not high. It’s still selling out, but not as fast as the more powerful systems.

Hell, the ship date on the S is 1/18/21...lol.

 

It’s good for a game pass machine and it runs well.
The problem is I got disc games and I don’t want to rebuy them or wait til they are on game pass

Um, games will run at 1440p. Any earlier performance issues is because of young GDK. That will get better.

 

You only have to look at the hardware to know it can't run quality titles at 1440p and good framerates without compromises.

Really? You sure about that? Since it has only been out a month and there really haven’t been games to fully take advantage of it. The GDK hasn’t matured yet. MS isn’t dumb. They know what it is capable of. Thats like saying the XBX is showing it is full potential in rushed cross platform games. Or the PS5 is showing is maximum performance right now. Come on, now.

Well since others who have and played the system says it can do 1440p say different , im going to believe them.

What resolution do you think games on PS5 and XSX will typically target?

I ask because I've been wondering if it might be better for devs to target something below 4K, despite all the marketing. The machines can both do 4K, but I'm thinking it might be better to target ~1440p and increase the framerate and/or add (better?) raytracing. Insomniac added a Performance RT mode to the Spider-man games, which is basically 60 FPS with ray-traced reflections targeting 1440p (though it scales down to 1080p at times). This feels like a sweet spot to me, better than the two other modes (both at higher resolutions).

If PS5/XSX end up targeting 1440p, I do think it will be difficult for XSS to do the same. Unless you cut some of the effects (primarily RT I guess) and/or reduce the frame rate. The thing is I'm sure the XSS could do 1440p or even 4K in some games. But I'm thinking it might be a better balance to target a lower resolution.

Honestly the resolution marketing is kinda silly anyway since we have dynamic resolution scaling, improved AA, image reconstruction techniques, etc. It is kinda meaningless IMO.
