You have pretty good taste. Can't say I've heard of the Daredevils, but now I know I need to.

p.s. I would add to your list Charlie Daniels Band - Fire on the Mountain

Yea, I have that on the wishlist as I need more Charlie Daniels. The Ozark Mountain Daredevils are sorta like the Eagles - except they are not overexposed nor are they giant douchebags.

    WTF!!!

although i dont agree, i understand the dislike even amongst beatles fans of ob-la-di and octopus garden, but old brown shoe is possibly the greatest beatles deep cut ever!

great slide guitar/guitar solo on that one and some of georges best lyrics...ringos beat, especially when it goes from that 4-on-the-floor shuffle to a straight beat on the "i may appear to be imperfect..." part. genius. some of ringos best drumming on that track.

i just read the article about jerry jeff walker in the most recent texas monthly so i put on viva terlingua this morning...this is my favorite one on that album.

then this album that came out last year by a band called elizabeth colour wheel. its like if my bloody valentine was a gothy black metal band. pretty uniquely badass.

I love you jo and because of that, I will have to give Old Brown Shoe another listen with an objective mind. After all, you alone introduced me to MBV, Dinosaur Jr., Yo La Tengo, Pixies (although I had known about them before coming to this site) and many others. Hell, you might have even introduced me to either Roxy Music or Sparks or both!

oh wow! i had no idea of that. thanks for sharing dude and glad i was able to turn anyone onto those bands!

old brown shoe definitely has a different vibe/feel than most other beatles songs. ive been a fan my whole life and my parents had both the red and blue greatest hits records so ive been listening to them forever. but i never paid much attention to that song. it was only about 15 years ago that old brown shoe really caught me for some reason...as ive gotten older its become one of my favorite beatles songs.

theres different takes out there and even some debate on who is playing on the blue album/single version...i believe this is george on vocals/guitars, ringo on drums and paul on bass/piano with john only contributing backing vocals. however, theres some beatles scholars who say that version is actually george on vocals, guitars and bass with paul playing drums and piano. no john or ringo at all. it sounds like ringo to me though.

ballad of john and yoko was just john and paul playing everything so its possible old brown shoe could have been just george and paul.

I listened to this all the way through just last week. Champagne Supernova has to be near the top "album closers" of all time.
