Man, it pisses me off enough to have to de-ice the windshield. I couldnt imagine having to shovel mounds of snow from the driveway to move the car just to go to the store for some milk. I would probably go postal.
for many years I have lived 8-9 months in Canadian brutal winters only to spend the summer in Middle East., thanks covid for stopping this cycle of insanity
I grew up in Houston but now live in Minnesota now. I'd honestly have a hard time moving back to Texas. Every time I visit in the summer I have a really hard time adjusting to the heat and humidity. I remember having no issue growing up but now it just feels miserable. Frankly, if it hits 80+ degrees here, I start complaining about the heat. If you move up north, you end up adjusting to the weather. You spend every winter cursing and then when summer rolls around, you are reminded what a luxury it is to have 75 degree summer days with a 10PM sunset. Also, snow varies by region. If you're from northern Michigan (like the UP for example), you might be dealing with 100+ inches of snow every winter. That gets old really fast. It really is exhausting to actually have to dig your way out of your house (and I mean this literally). Where I live, we don't get anywhere near that amount of snow so that's a non-issue for me. The thing that gets me is just the cold weather. I'm perfectly fine with 20 degree weather. However, when the weather goes below zero, then I start to regret where I live. But overall, I'd still rather have the cold than the Houston summers. And as climate change kicks into high gear, it'll only get worse.
Nope I'm using Fahrenheit. When I say below zero I mean -17 C. 0 degrees Celsius is nothing to me nowadays.
having lived in Calgary, I can attest to this. 25 or so to around the high thirties is the WORST! Or around zero if you’re into Celsius.
Much like with rain or heat or wind, a little is charming, a lot is a problem, and a huge amount is deadly. It just snowed about 2 inches here in DC. I'm already kind of annoyed.
You don't shovel humidity, but its cousin (flooding) will shovel your **** for you, whether you like to not. I have to say while my skin, hair, and especially sinuses miss humidity (at least for the half the year when its dry here) the rest of my body absolutely doesn't. Having the ground be dry 4~ hours after it rains is amazing, and not having to deal with swamp ass is quite a life upgrade.
I live in one of the snowier areas of the country, and it sucks. Summers are spectacular, though. Some say I'll be a snow bird and live my best life. That's probably a good 25 years away though. I do have a good deal worked out, though. I let a guy farm on some of my land and he plows my driveway, which is about 130 yards long. Nice waking up to have your driveway plowed after a night of two feet of snow...
If you have to shovel you’re probably doing it wrong I’m also grilling right now. Sausage and peppers.
Yeah, fugg that too. I don't push mow anymore, but I'm sure that machine is akin to it. No. Thank you.
I live in Houston and would prefer an even warmer winter. That snow nonsense is fine for visiting but I want nothing to do with it.
I often look for short term locum opportunity while also visiting family which was fine, I used to go on short stunts also to Northern Territory ,pays a lot for a couple of weeks but more often it was not worth it when its 50-60 degree below freezing.
Growing up, we lived outside of Nashville for a few years. It was like the perfect balance of seasons. The summers were just about as hot as Texas, but not quite. The fall was gorgeous, cool, and the leaves were a billion colors. The winter was cold, but not Minnesota cold...we had snow sometimes, but just enough have 3-4 snow days a year. You never really had to shovel snow, and the worst case scenario was you had to scrape your windshield 7-10 times a year. The Spring was nice and warm and everything sort of bloomed out. I've never personally lived anywhere with such perfectly divided, textbook seasons.
