A list of Morey's questionable moves that costed our championship window:

    1. Hiring McHale. Not only didn't he fire him after the Portland series but he extended him. Complete disaster.

    2. Trading Marcus Morris for a 2nd round pick. He traded 2Pat on the same day too which left our power forward spot vacuum. Morris would have been very compatible with Howard. Instead we had b****ed about how Terrence Jones for the next few years.

    3. Should have traded Asik as soon as we signed Dwight. We were dire need of a power forward because he traded both Patterson and Morris the previous season. Someone like Brandon Bass would have been useful that year. Insteas he held onto Asik for too long, even tried to pair him up with Dwight. You don't need to be a basketball expert to tell that was never going to work.

    4. Eventually he flipped Asik for 1st round pick, which was a nice return. Should have flipped that 1st round pick in the very next trade deadline for someone like Dragic or Isaiah Thomas or even Mo Williams who got traded for peanuts. Instead he traded Cannon for KJ and we were left with two 40-year-old point guard in the playoffs. Even worse the pick ended up being Dekker which was a complete waste of pick.

    5. Full MLE for Kostas Papanikolaou. Really?

    6. Ryan Anderson. After the Warriors success he should have gone after the 4s that are mobile and can create off the dribble. Ironically we had one in our squad that year in Michael Beasley and he traded him for Tyler Ennis. Maybe I overrated Beasley but you can't defend that trade. That was horrible. It was a shame Beasley never got a chance to play that year because he would have had a career year. Unloading him costed us an extra pick and De'Anthony Melton.

    7. By the way, he tried to sign Kent Bazemore to that 20m/yr contract, which shows you his talent evaluation is off. We dodged a huge bullet.

    8. Not re-signing Ariza and thought Ennis was going to cut it. What makes it even worse was Phoenix flipped Ariza for Oubre who would have been a huge upgrade!

    9. Extending Gordon for no reason. We had to give up Capela in that RoCo deal because Gordon was untradeable.

    10. Lying to the Rockets that he was going to take a year off while negotiating with Philly behind closed doors. Could have traded him for a first round pick.

Man's not perfect, he even admitted that that his biggest regret was not properly surrounding Harden with enough capable talent.

    It is what it is.

The biggest of his few faults was CP3's contract. I'm sure it was an under the table agreement or whatever, but if CP3 wasn't making 40 plus million so much would have changed. Maybe Chris is still a Rocket now.

It was a huge gamble that ended up derailing us. Unfortunately you can't be too choosey with stars/superstars.

You have to take that chance with CP. I have no issues with paying Chris what he wanted. He had a great year last year. He was still recovering from his injury in year 2 and that whole season was just off but everyone was jumping the gun with wanting him gone. His contract would have been fine. If Tilman didn’t want him gone it’s a non issue and Houston would be much better team today because of it.

Ariza did earn more than Morey with that 15 Million from Phoenix.

    1. Signing Jeremy Lin who is garbage instead of just giving the player option to Dragic

    2. His drafts are weird most of the time.

If you work at an org long enough you are gonna have a laundry list of mistakes.

Morey isnt omnipotent, a lot of those moves look bad only with power of hindsight. If Morey knew what was gonna happen he wouldve taken out a loan and bought all the bitcoin he can get his hands on in 2007. Then he would actually be the owner of the Rockets today instead of just the former GM.

gave up 2 ball handling guards who can play PG as part of the deal for CP3

if we had another legit ball handler who can backup CP3 we could have won the title

I imagine when you go to divorce court your ex-wife will make a similar cherry picked list about you.
