WOW! Calling a poster female as some kind of negative dig. Really dude? This is 2020 step your game up.
i mean did u see the context of our convo...he said derozan was Better as a franchise player than Simmons. Simmons is 22, 23. DD was traded because they underachieved for him. And got a much better player in return. Part of the reason they traded one of the most beloved raptors for a year rental was because of how he underperformed. I’m not saying derozan= equals kawhi. I’m saying Simmons is 22 & 23 during those “playoff failures” he’s young and there’s a learning curve
hes 24 years old and and been on back to back all star teams and recently all nba. A former number 1 pick. All nba defense. He didn’t play his rookie year, so for 2 of his 3 seasons where he played he’s been an all star or all nba and he’s 24. U talk likes he’s been in the league 6 years and made 2 all star teams. u act like I’m in the minority of taking simmons over herro....Simmons is highly regarded as the better return
Stop backtracking, this was no context misunderstanding, in your zeal to prop up Simmons you actually tried to insinuate that Derozan was dumped to get off his salary (your exact words). I don't really have a dog in this fight but I hate untruths and extreme hyperbole to make a point.
Since when does those things make you a franchise player? Kyrie's resume trumps all of that is he a franchise player? Kemba's resume trumps that is he a franchise player? Straight up I would take Simmons over Hero but with Simmons contract and limited ceiling the package would be the most important thing. I am still waiting on why you think 2 all star appearances and 3rd team all nba makes him a franchise player?
I’m not back tracking at all they moved DD to get off his contract and get a much better player in return who could make the team better for a single season at worst. They couldn’t convince him to stay but they won a ring and moved off derozans terrible deal. It was a win win move. he compared Ben Simmons playoffs failures to DD. Ben Simmons is 22 and 23 dd was moved at the age of 28. Thats hyperbole.
They traded Derozen to get Leonard full stop and it's telling that you left out that part initially. And the really crazy part is that Derozen has more of the same accolades that you pump Simmons up with so that must mean he is a Franchise player right?
Elite play making, elite defense, make other players around him better. 6’10 with point guard skills and I’ve already stayed what’s on his resume in his 3 years of play. Not to mention he can can better at every area I’ve already mentioned and on offense. Limited ceiling? he can’t get more aggressive on offense? He can’t literally go from never shooting to shooting some? He can’t get better on d? He can’t attack the post more? The only one limiting his ceiling is you. Comparing kemba’s resume at 30 or kyries at 29 to a 24 year old is hyperbole at its best.
what accolades does derozan have as Simmons? Defense? No. Playmaking at a elite level? No. Rebounding ? No. The closest trait they share is that they both can’t shoot but derozan obviously is better than Simmons at that. They trade for kawhi to improve the team AND move off derozans contract fo look back at that deal and read about it. the franchise needed new blood- derozan represented the old guard and playoff failures. Kawhi was a better player raised the teams ceiling and if he left gave them flexibility financially. comparing derozan now or at 29 to a 24 year old is ridiculous. Is it possible Simmons turns out to be a 2 on a championship team? Sure but as of now he came in as a number 1 pick and he’s an all nba player by year 3. Let’s see what happens now that Morey will put a real team that fits around him
He has more all star game appearances and has made the all NBA team, you know the same things you said that made Simmons a franchise player. Do you not know what accolades mean?
Dude you are the one saying those things make him a franchise player not me, so know those things don't matter? What he is not elite at is getting his own shot which is a basic necessity of a cornerstone franchise player when it comes to clutch time in the playoffs. Prime example 1 Giannis.
he did that by year 4? Like Simmons? Interesting. I see here he made his 1st all game in year 5 at age 24 1st all nba at age 28 year 9. How many all defense 1st teams? How many steals leaders? How many rookie of the years? He’s been in the league 11 years compared to Simmons 4.....
That's great for the regular season, but we all know he'd get exposed in the playoffs. Ben Simmons is capable of being a franchise player, but not a franchise player for a contending team. Anything is possible. Is it possible he grows another two inches? Sure, why not? But let's focus on reasonable expectations. Based on his last two years, it's unlikely he becomes even an average shooter (from mid-range and beyond) during his prime.
ive seen him take over stretches in the post season against us. He’s been handicapped by poor roster construction and average at best coaching. When he attacks in transition he’s unstoppable, when he gets in the paint he’s a terror. brown made zero adjustments in the post season. I’ve seen it first hand Morey will surround him with much better roster and Simmons can absolutely thrive and at the end of the day he’s still a better asset than herro
How many rookie of the years? How many steals leaders? Da ****? What does any of that have to do with being a franchise player? So now it matters what year they made these teams to be a franchise player? Really my dude?
