Who's suggesting trading Harden for Jonah Bolden or Shaq Harrison? Coming in here with bullshit made up narratives because you think your big boy pants are not streaked with diarrhea? Get the fvk out.
My bad for misrepresenting your view. So you think Simmons's lack of shooting skill is won't prevent him from being an effective franchise player. Of course those guys are not really at the same level. It was just an approximation. Bam is the best among them. I wish he was on the table. Robinson is actually a better pure shooter than Herro, but not as versatile. It's hard to say which will turn out to be better.
Yet he continues to excel nonetheless. His accomplishments have increased every year. Glass half full for one player, glass empty for the other.
a trade for simmons means that you're 100% sure he's the franchise superstar that you've wanted and that he can lead you to a championship. you're from boston so let me put it this way.. if you traded jayson tatum for ben simmons, do you think the celtics would be closer to or further from a championship? the whole goal is to win a championship is it not? that's a risky proposition for a guy who can't shoot in today's nba making max salary... and on a team like the rockets with so much committed salary already, there's no real avenue to add on to the team with simmons.
Yes really. They couldn't win rings in their primes. In particular, Rondo's inability to shoot was exploited in the playoffs.
Rondo won a ring in his prime with the KG Celtics, learn your history. And Kidd took 2 Nets teams to the Finals, as in carried those teams on his back, before he won a ring with the Mavs. You got anything else?
He doesn't have the athleticism to help him make up for it either. Lavine has short arms too and he tries really hard, but even his elite athleticism is not enough to male him an average defender.
Unsurprisingly, you're wrong again. None of that changes the fact that he couldn't shoot during his prime, and he failed to win a championship during his prime.
and this is why so many gms fail at their job. bc they're going for the impossible and trying to get dollar for dollar in a trade involving a top 3 player. you're never going to get fair value for a player like harden, and the moment you trade a player like him, a team should automatically be thinking rebuild... not let's run it back and hope for a 6th-7th seed. this is why the whole context matters - salary matters, timelines matter. like i said, if you honestly think simmons is the main piece to a championship team, go ahead and trade for him. but what makes anyone think that simmons can make the rockets more of a championship contender than harden is beyond me. you either commit the next half-decade to simmons without the flexibility to change the current roster. or you go for the potential of herro and the miami package and gather assets/create cap room to make a run at a star that becomes available who could be a better fit than simmons.
The difference is Rondo was on a rookie deal when they acquired KG and Allen. If we buy Simmons now, we have Rondo at 40 million. If say Pierce and Perk were making the same amount as Wall and Gordon, there would have been no avenue to bring in KG and Allen. You can't possibly think Rondo wins without those 2 hall of famers. Kidd got traded to the Nets who had built up a squad with draft picks as well. Kittles, Van Horn, Kenyon Martin, Jefferson, etc... It's easier to contend when you develop the initial talent internally, better yet, on rookie deals.
I mean for starts Tatum and Simmons are the same age...so it’s not really comparable. If you’re asking me if Tatum demanded a trade and I could get Simmons or herro the answer is Ben all day. u guys are really over thinking the can’t shoot thing- he just made all nba, not being able to shoot. Last year. As far as him leading u to a championship, he’s gonna need help. Lebron needs help. Harden needs help, giannis needs help. So yes he’ll need help and maybe ultimately he ends up being your 2 in the end but he’s absolutely a superstar. as far as money goes- I feel your looking at wall wrong. When harden leaves he’s a stop gap. U let him play and ball out and then trade him off. U take his salary and get a few players back for it and then Simmons is your max guy
right but your alternative is herro? he’s a championship player? Wall is? Simmons is a better prospect then all of them. Gm’s fail when they gamble on the wrong player or blow trades like the harden one . Simmons is established.
Bingo. I bet the Spurs are thinking man our future sure is bright for years to come with derozan. Rather than an actual young prospect with upside with max cap room. They’re now that team stuck fighting for a playoff spot after losing kawhi with nothing to look forward to despite having Derozan and LA
looks like i struck a nerve lol. and you're here saying ppl are getting too emotional or that you're worried about their mental state. most people here are tired of your boy who cried wolf non-stop spamming of jonah bolden takes.
It's cool. I don't think it will, I think it definitely puts a ceiling on him to where it maybe hard to become a top 10 or top 5 player. I just think his playmaking ability (not scoring) is that great and his defense is that great. Harden as a Rocket has a career 36% ast % and Ben Simmons has 35% ast %. He's an enigma: a 6'10" guard who can't shoot, has high basketball IQ, and can guard multiple positions. Bam changes the calculus for the packages.
