you can absolutely disagree because either packages depends on your personal preference and how you would want to rebuild going forward. but the problem is people are trying to make their case by simple putting out false takes about the other. when herro is being heralded as nothing more than another korver for example, it just becomes plain ignorant. and there's so many more embarassing takes like that. simple as this: You're in the Herro boat because it gives you a top 5 draft talent at 20 years with a clear significant upside, clears supermax money, picks, and additional young rotational players. Obviously you're not winning immediately with him. You're sitting back and watching how he evolves while also having options to add to this team with the money and picks at your disposal. By the time wall is probably gone, he's no more than 23 years old. Tracking and evaluating his progress can determine how you want to move forward. You're not stuck with him on a max and in fact have his control for dirt cheap. This is what having a top draft pick is like. The same thing people have been asking for for years. Only you get to see said player for a full year rather than just guessing on someone who hasn't stepped foot in the league. You're in the Simmons boat because he's the more established player atm, a fringe all star + whatever picks likely. He's the classic safe pick. Is he good enough to be that face of the franchise? That's what you're banking on him to be. He brings in a 4 year max as a klutch player, in addition to your already set roster and their salaries. Where do you get the flexibility to realistically improve your roster around a player like him who has a glaring flaw for the modern nba. It's pretty much set as is. If you're intention is on remaining in mediocrity and just fighting for a playoff spot for the next 4 years with simmons this is your choice. In both scenarios the rockets aren't going to be good enough to actually win it all. Objectively, there's points to both.
Well it depends on what kind of top 10 player. If he played with AD probably not. If he played with KD maybe. With Curry or Lebron probably yes. I don't think that playmaking can negate this when the defence knows already what he is going to do because he doesn't take a shot. And he is similarly a bad FT shooter which is terrible for the playoffs.
Didn't you say that you would stop the personal attacks? But it has been hardly an hour and here you are at it again.
I don’t think anyone is saying it’s useless...his TS% is good, there is no debating that...it’s just not very impressive when it’s based off 11-12 shots a game all right at the rim, and u can’t really compare it to guys who take a healthy amount of jumpers or primarily shoot jumpers because if Simmons started taking jump shots, that TS% would not be at 60% shooting isn’t the be all and end all, but it is 1 of the most important skills to have, especially in today’s NBA, and Simmons not just complete lack of shooting, but unwillingness to even shoot, is an enormous flaw Seth Curry would be making max money if he had the talent and skill that his brother has, but he doesn’t and he’s primarily just a shooter who can do little else which is why he’s just a middling role player. people in this thread have been trying to put Tyler Herro in that box of shooter who can’t do anything else, but he has much more to his game than that
Thank you for your concern but since YOU are the one who keeps responding back while trying to bait and attack on top of it, maybe you should first look at a mirror.
And you dont average 16 points in NBA if you DON'T shoot or worse are a complete non shooter. We can agree to disagree but disparaging a young talented kid to make an exaggerated point is not right. I really like Herro too, but we will just have to agree to disagree as to who is more talented. Who is more accomplished is pretty cut and dried.
u can tho...that is exactly what Simmons is doing, but he’s been stuck at 16 ppg because he refuses/can’t shoot...it is why his shot attempts are so low, and why he can do something like average 9.7 shots in 35 mpg for an entire playoff run there’s only so many shot attempts and points u can generate when u don’t shoot and you’re not some beast like Shaq I don’t think I’m disparaging or exaggerating anything about Simmons. He can’t and doesn’t shoot. I’m not making that up. I’m not saying he sucks or isn’t good, he just has a tremendous flaw that is pretty damaging.
Here's another thought experiment for you guys... Is there a player in the entire league you can pair with Simmons and be a contending favorite? With his cap number, a power duo is the best you can hope for... Is that even enough? Of course, even that scenario is extremely unlikely with John Wall taking up even more space.
rehashing this true shooting% crap again bc u obviously weren't keeping up with the thread. ts% for players in their rookie seasons harden - 55.1% steph curry - 56.8% klay thompson - 54.5% devin booker - 53.5% ben simmons - 55.7% jamal murray - 51.8% tyler herro - 55% are u guys seriously not expecting herro to improve on that % at all after just finishing his age 19-20 season? funny how u have ppl on this board spam hyping up jonah bolden, shaq harrison, or some no-name g-leaguer but are the first to dismiss any sort of potential for a 20 yr old that just completed a really good rookie season.
When he becomes the face of your franchise and getting max for 4 years. And when the modem era highlights your best players being able to shoot the basketball Seth curry is a role player paid to do what he does best and that’s shooting 3’s. He’s paid as such
Simmons because he like a tweet of mine the year he was to get drafted. It has come full circle my friends. Plus he freaking 6’10”.
LOL because si and espn are so reputable. b**** at espn in one thread only to praise its rankings in another.
ESPN is the same place that ranked Harden 9th for this season...they’re compromised when it comes to basketball talk...not to be trusted or taken seriously
