Sure..... and 2-3 years, if the Bucks haven't won a title and the media is shitty on you..... you will demand a trade and end up in one of 4-5 cities while still collecting your guaranteed money and likely getting another extension at your next team. Signing these long term contracts mean nothing other than the team gets a guarantee that they can trade the player for a good return and the player gets a guarantee that if they get injured they will collect multi generational wealth. We will hear BS about "loyalty" and "I love this city" and it all really means NOTHING when titles don't happen.
He knows he can let them sweat a bit....... and he also knows that signing the extension means nothing, he can get out and demand a trade later when he wants to.
I do not think it was just a psychological game. I have reason to suspect things soured and changed after the Bogdanovic fiasco. He still signed but it is really feasible that there are secret additional demands. The Bucks had Bud dine him with a flied in chef from Chicago two nights ago and now he finally signs. They had to sweat and grovel to make something everyone said was in the bag. So who knows what he asked for really.
He's going to request for a trade 2 years into the contract. Bet. Everyone and their mother wants to play for Lakers, Warriors, Heat etc.
I keep wondering when the commissioner and the owners are going to stop all of this. The league and the owners are teaching the players to ask for everything.... you can see it in how the Bucks have handled Giannis and the Rockets have handled Harden..... and the players are more than happy to go along with it. Look at the nonsense in Brooklyn with Irving and the full court groveling by GS for Durant a few years ago....... Leonard with the Clippers and James with the Lakers. Even Jerry West is paying "friends" of Leonard to try and convince him to go to the Clippers. I am all for labor empowerment but the current system is a joke.
There will be a bidding war for James Harden at the Trade deadline because of this. A lot of teams where holding out for Giannis.
Exactly. Players have the power, he will engineer a move when he wants, just like management or coaches will leave - and that's totally fine if he does! Only big dumb male babies think there's some sort of civic loyalty here that supersedes it - grow up. Nothing wrong with players exercising basic human rights, contract or not. Marc Lasry knows this as well.
Sure, freedom of expression or having emotions is a pretty basic human right. If future Giannis has regrets down the road, he can express them or have them and Joe from Eau Claire should be able to accept it like an adult.

If the Bucks have remedies to enforce against Giannis if at some point he expresses buyers remorse, they should negotiate for such. They won't, so quit crying.
I'm not crying I just don't understand why an employer needs to negotiate with an employee over the employee's feelings. It doesn't even happen at McDonald's. Employees have the right to quit and work somewhere else for more pay or better hours but you cant force the employers to cater and accommodate the employee especially when there are millions of dollars involved and long term contracts. I don't expect loyalty from Harden or Giannis or anyone in the NBA... Players come and go and always will, but I do think some of these guys should honor their contracts. It's a contract to play for and get paid for, I support Harden or Giannis wanting a new direction or a ring. Once their contracts are over or once both parties come to an agreement that works for both parties.
I wouldn't sign this year and observe and possibly sign next year. Observe if this team can make it to the ECF again. I wouldn't say the management is bad but Middleton, Jrue and Mountain lack the 'It' factor in the playoffs IMHO. In a nutshell, he got to play with a closer as he isn't one himself. Simple as that.
I mean it is a quarter billion dollars. I would definitely sign it if I was him. Who knows what can happen. Maybe you can fall from the stairs and break your neck. This way he has secured the future of his next 3 generations. Then he can always ask for a trade. I don't blame him if he does. After the Kidd and the new owners saga I as a fan have been traumatised already let alone a player who had to go through such bullcrap.
Lol he doesnt need to. He just has to suck it up and accept that feelings change just like employers change their feelings and minds too. If the employer wants to dictate feelings he can try to put it in the contract.
