Herro is getting paid $5 million a year for the next 3 years. Simmons is making $35 million a year for the next 5! The Sixers can't even build a better team than the Rockets around Simmons and you think he'll make us one? GTFOH

....Kyle Korver 2.0 as the headliner in a Harden trade package........

....seems like leaving a lot of money on the table.

Herro is currently the odds on favorite to win MIP in his 2nd year. I wonder why. Is it because of this upside at 20 years ago we're talking about

SportsBetting.com lists Herro as the betting favorite for the 2021 NBA Most Improved Player Award at 12-to-1. The sportsbook also has Herro as a co-favorite, along with Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie, for the Sixth Man of the Year Award at 6-to-1.

    There you go again

The guy that outscored him by a mile and won a head to head playoff series and then was the 2nd leading scorer during the championship series that they won is not a debatably better player?

Your love for Simmons is very weird.

Watch the highlights of Herro I posted from their preseason game. He's literally NOTHING like Korver. Just because he's white and can shoot doesn't make him Korver.

He's got a handle and can move.

So what if he can't be the primary playmaker? Lots of stars are not.

What is making me optimistic about Herro is the amount of development he has shown in the league. I don't understand how you can dismiss the real possibillity of him developing into a star out of hand, when the guy has shown already so much improvement is only 20 years old and in his 2nd year.

Plus MOST if not all rookies are bad defenders. Big deal! Many become capable and even good defenders.

It's nuts. Harden was coming off the bench and looked like trash against the heat in the finals so people thought he wasn't going to be anything more than a role player. Now folks are unwilling to take a chance on Herro locked up to a steal of a deal for Ben Simmons? A guy who can't make the finals no matter how much money the sixers spend?

Simmons wasn't even playing in the NBA at 20. dude was in his suit and tie fresh off not being able to get LSU a tournament birth. He led his team to cancun trips for march madness

    It is FACT.

Herro is behind Butler, Bam, Dragic and even Duncan Robinson before his small sample size of success in playoffs.

Does he take the next step and LEAP over Robinson.

Very likely but a 3rd option is what everyone is clamoring to rebuild around?????

Even NOW, Herro is running with 2nd unit on Miami's depth chart.

    1st team:

PG: Dragic (leading postseason scorer until injury)

SG: Robinson (best 3ball season in NBA history)

    SF: Butler (Heat superstar)

    PF: Harkless (3-D specialist)

    C: Bam (Heat franchise player)

folks have their stereotypical judgements in place already. Anyone putting him under those kinds of labels just have no business dissecting talent and player profiles

Because it was one season playing a role on a pretty good Miami team..... and we are talking about giving up our franchise player. My mind isn't made up on Herro, I just wouldn't want him as the headliner based off one season or probably one and a half seasons.

Bam, Robinson, and Nunn are not $10. They have already shown high ceilings as rookies. Sure Simmons's floor is higher. There is a chance that none of the Miami guys will be better than him. But getting Simmons means you are locked into that player. You put all your eggs in one basket and that basket has a huge hole nobody knows if it can be fixed.

Kyle Korver comparison must be because they’re both white and can shoot...lmao, talk about clueless and lazy

tell me when Korver was doing anything like this at any point in his career, let alone as a rookie

some people need to stop talking if Kyle Korver 2.0 is coming out of their mouth

He was a ROOKIE. Of course, the vets are gonna eat ahead of him for the moment.

The fact that he was a rookie and still did what he did in the playoffs is extremely impressive in it of itself.

You can quibble on the comparison but he is a shorter version of Korver who can handle the ball some. I'm not discounting the fact that Herro can turn into something but I need more than a season playing a role for a good team with a great coaching staff.

So you can't even deny it.

You probably thought Freddie Adu was the next coming of Pele the way you defend Simmons.

The heart of the issue is whether people here believe that Simmons has more untapped development in him. Mainly the jumpshot.

I do not believe it. For me he is what he is because he doesn't even take a shot let alone make it. It's been 3 years and this hasn't changed and I find ZERO reason that this will change.
To me Simmons is what he is. A finished product with a elephant size flaw that also requires to build the whole team around him.

While Herro has much more potential to untap. He can become a star imo and has the number one desired skill in this league shooting.
