I don't think Morey will fold before Miami throws the moon at us. If Riley likes Harden he will pull the trigger and you have to remember that Herro and Robinson are CHEAP. Simmons is just about as expensive as Harden and Tilman will choose to go younger and get way under the tax with youth as the excuse.
if that’s your description of Simmons then u haven’t watched him. He plays in our division- he’s a very good player. And yes in a harden return he’s your white whale. Keep it in context. He can take over games on the defensive side, with his playmaking and with his scoring at times. He’s multifaceted and all nba. Flawed? Yes. But very good. in 2 years after a herro return you’ll say u got 75 cents on a dollar for harden.
Really? How is that? He beat him in a head to head series in the playoffs and had a much higher scoring average. It's very debatable Siakim has done it on the biggest stage Simmons can't get out of the 2nd round. How is not debatable.
I mean this whole video is ridiculous and embarassing. Not a SINGLE jumpshot that isn't a failled lob or a last second heave. Not one. It looks like something out of the Onion.
How is he better than Siakim? What metrics are you using? Not saying you are wrong but I would take Siakim over Simmons easily.
He can do that from the Power Forward position playing next to Wood at the 5. I envision a Bam/Draymond role for him as well especially since Wall and Gordon (to an extent) can be the PG's bringing the ball up. Simmons can post up, pick and roll, set the table in a high post, etc. While I get why people are apprehensive about Simmons being worth that contract in that type of a role there is a reason why guys like Bam and Draymond are so well respected and thought of in this league. Also a reason why a guy like Bam is basically untouchable right now because of the value he provides in every aspect of the game except for shooting. Also, don't discount Simmon's scoring ability. He averaged 21 pts for a 9 game stretch while Embiid was out and shot 65% FG. He could have easily averaged 30 during that time span but is just too unselfish at times and never puts up more than 20 shots a game. Even Lebron has that issue from time to time (especially early in his career) but obviously plays winning basketball and usually makes the right pass to the player with the best look/open shot. If we get Simmons, Silas would figure out ways to use him in a Bam style role as well as occasionally play a point forward role like he is accustomed to when matchups dictate it. Simmons is a 58% FG shooter so he knows where his bread is buttered (at the rim) which is what I like about him. While he obviously isn't a confident shooter I think it is better that he doesn't force it when he is open ala Russell Westbrook. You don't have to camp Simmons at the 3 point line since he is more of an above the rim player. Why would we want a <28% 3 point shooter taking 3's instead of others on the team? Teams can still succeed in this league with 1 poor shooter on the court especially if that 1 poor shooter 1) is a big with elite all around game 2) knows their limitations/role and doesn't take ill advised shots which we obviously know Simmons does not take ill advised shots.
Harden for Robinson, Herro, filler and 3 picks ought to do it. Don't want any part with Simmons. He doesn't even fit with Wall and there is no team that will take Wall until maybe the end of the season if he's healthy. How can you folks keep forgetting that?
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I think the bolded is very optimistic about the players we'd be receiving back from Miami. We are going to get 4 equal players that will add to Harden? Without Bam it feels more like trading $100 for a $20 and 3 $10 bills that you hope you can rub together and get another Harden trade haul.
So I trade for herro and get 2 Miami firsts backs....Riley now has butler and bam and harden. 2 defensive guys to make up for harden and then he has Miami as a sell to fill out the roster with next offseason for ring chasers and discounts. U get 2 **** picks and herro. with Philly- there’s much more room for combustion.....embiid injury concerns. Harden and embiid not working and embiid demands out in a year with 2 years left or in 2 years.
but for some reason, we’re supposed to be confident that he’ll not only develop the confidence to take jumpers after years of having zero confidence, but that he’ll actually be able to hit them at a respectable level as well that form is hideous...there can only be so many Kevin Martins and Shawn Marions that have ugly jumpers but still hit shots I don’t even know how that form is a natural shooting motion for Simmons...at least someone like Ronnie Brewer had the excuse of a broken arm as a kid
It's all opinions.... but they are basing it off a short sample preseason. Herro was never a playmaker in college or on the Miami team until he blew up in the playoffs. Even then, he wasn't the primary creator or ball handler.
There's always confusion about positions due to the different roles on offense/defense. On offense, if Wood was sitting on the 3PT line then HE'd be the PF, and if Ben was sitting 5 ft from the rim as Clint did for us, then HE'd be playing center. Defensively, it's a wash on who would be guarding C's vs PF's. It would depend on the matchups. Ben is much more solid, he has 25 pounds of pure muscle over Wood, that being said Ben's perimeter defense is also much better, so it would just depend on who's the bigger offensive threat between the opposing PF/C, whoever it is Ben's guarding them either way.
