What about being a vocal leader on the defensive end and making sure players were in the right place? Is that easily replaceable on a team with championship aspirations?

First off, this is the NBA. Every league is different and for a long time the NBA didn’t have as much of the shenanigans that the NFL had. Second and most importantly, these guys have GUARANTEED contracts. They have far less to complain about. And you should have learned as a child, just because others do something, doesn’t make it right.
As long as he doesn't sink 10s of millions into shady property deals or buy a plane, he should be ok. Booze and strippers are pretty cheap. Even throwing 100k at a friend won't sink him with the $$ he has. It's the bad investments he needs to watch out for.
