I'm not taking anything away from Ben Simmons, but do you guys really want to attempt to build around a non-shooter again? Also, I'm not convinced that Herro can't be an excellent passer an tactician If given the same opportunity. He has shown flashes in playoff games of being capable. I think Silas could make him a monster...
Absolutely can be considered a fair take. it's objective and looks at both sides without throwing out silly stereotypes and nonsense claims. 95% of this thread should take notes.
Not from Miami, though.. they've traded their 21 and 23 firsts to the Clippers, who traded them to OKC... hence my point
A non shooter who can still manage to have 60%TS because he is 6'10" while being the primary player and an elite defensive player. If he could shoot, he wouldn't even be an option. I'm not sure when we tried to build around a non shooter? But building around Simmons seems pretty straight forward..... Woods, Boogey, EGO, BMac, House are players we currently have that would fit nicely. One NBA season where he got to play for a very good team with a very good coaching staff. He was never the primary ball handler in college either at Kentucky, while Simmons was at LSU. I really do like Herro, but you are gambling on him being something he's never done. It's a big gamble for trading your current franchise player in hopes Herro can become that.
It doesn't matter if Herro fits this team better than Simmons. It's about who would you rather build around. A possible top 10 player or a Great Value Klay Thompson. It's not even close. Anyone who picks Herro is crazy. Wall might not even be in our future plan. I can see us pulling a Thunder route and trade Wall next year after he ups his value then we will stockpile assets to build around Simmons
anyone who calls simmons a top 10 player is crazy. these are the kind of posts that merit any kind of serious thought. you people who obviously don't watch a lick outside of probably some rockets games keeping outing yourselves
yup, the ones who just watch the Rockets call Simmons a foundational piece or someone u build around...lol Who builds around an oversized PG that doesn’t even shoot? Sounds like a waste of time to me
Building around a rookie role player who had a great playoffs seems like a waste of time to me. I prefer the point center who can set up his teammates while playing elite defensive. We have scorers and shooters on our team currently, will need a great playmaker if we don't have Harden.
It's cute how sensitive some posters are. They can't handle opinions that fall outside of what they can grasp....
not surprised a Russ stan thinks Simmons is the truth and someone u build around How could u average just 10 shots in 35 mpg for an entire playoff run culminating in just 5 shot attempts in a game 7, but you’re the type foundational piece teams build around? The rest of the team would have to bring the scoring and shooting because he can’t.
There's more to basketball than shooting. Simmons affects more of the overall game. You think Herro was better than Simmons in his playoff runs? WS/48 Simmons- 0.157 Herro- 0.050 Playoffs WS/48: Simmons 2 seasons- 0.134 Herro 1 season- .053
Herro’s 37 points in that 1 playoff game is already more impressive than anything Simmons has done in a playoff setting, but he’s already being put in a box as a for sure role player while Simmons gets “possible top 10 player” talk when he’s pretty much been the same exact player since his rookie year. Lemme guess, Simmons will be top 10 if he gets this mythical reliable jump shot, and he’s gonna do that because both Kidd and Rondo developed one in their thirties?
i thought you were talking about a Herro centered package. me: A herro centered package would be less than what PG (a worse player than Harden) got for OKC from the Clippers you: We don't know what a Herro centered package would look like yet Me: yes, but basically impossible for Miami to match the Clippers package. They don't have a Galli, and they can't send 5 1st round picks plus 2 pick swaps, in part because Miami already traded their 21 and 23 first rounders... to LA, which are now in OKC. Mind you, there are protections on those also, which means Miami can't trade the years in between either... Not sure how a Miami trade will work...
