Herro + Bam > Simmons + whatever Philly has. But Miami is not giving up Bam. So no deal. It all depends on how Morey and Stone value Simmons. I suspect that they have the same view (either highly valued or meh). This is probably why there's no trade.
I think there’s a good chance Herro could be a 20 ppg scorer that can do a bit of playmaking and is an excellent shooter who can fit with anyone Would u rather try to build around an extremely flawed Simmons while having limited flexibility and hoping he doesn’t leave after his contract is up, or would u rather have Herro on his rookie deal? I could easily see the Rockets having a better future with the Herro trade than the Simmons one wasting time trying to build around a guy who not only can’t shoot, but doesn’t even try to
Brooo... did you not read what i wrote? I said neither options are great. But if i had to choose I'd say Herro. 1. Herro is on a rookie contract, once he is done w the rookie contract we can lock him down till he's damn near 30 (exaggeration). 2. Morey, (btw i love morey), focused more on putting ball dominant guards around Harden,(Paul/Westbrook), not true shooter. Harden was ALLOWED (by Morey and Dantoni) to play the way he did. 3. Herro is putting up Devin Booker stats in his first year So, you want Ben Simmons to run the offense... 1. Who in the hell is Simmons going to rely on to score? With Simmons and Wall on MAX CONTRACT who do you expect the rockets to bring in to score, Or are you just going to rely on the rejects we have now? We have no one to reliably score. 2. Simmons SHOOTS 59 % CAREER FREE THROWS. He sucked at shooting in HS and still sucks. The man is not going to learn to reliably shoot the basketball. Ever. 3. Ben Simmons is TERRIBLE at spacing the floor. You expect him to play the center? 4. Simmons has a poor motor. He doesnt work hard. 5. 76ers have a 99.0 defensive rating when Simmons is on the bench, which would rank No. 1 in the league by a mile, and a 107.2 rating when he's on the floor. 6. ESPN's defensive real plus-minus, which theoretically separates an individual defender from the contributions of his teammates, barely has Simmons as a top-200 defender -- 183rd, to be exact, six spots ahead of Carmelo Anthony! 7. Simmons is a flop Tyler Herro > Simmons @D-rock get at me ;-)
I don't think Miami will give you all four of their young prospects. If they are willing to give three, I'd be satisfied. We still don't know how Precious will turn out. But Herro, Duncan, and Nunn are all very promising. Herro and Duncan are dead-eye shooters. We need those to play around Wall. They'd make EGo obsolete.
Almost impossible to be better than the Clippers return. There is no Gallinari available. Then there's the picks. You are aware the Clippers trade 5 (FIVE!) first round picks, PLUS two pick swaps. As much as we b**** about the CP3-Russ trade, the PG trade was as insane, imo. BTW, two of the 1st round picks the Clippers traded to OKC ... WERE HEAT PICKS!! So sure, I might not know exactly what a return package will be, but at the moment, it's not possible to be as good as the PG return. What's going on here is clear. Harden wants out. Everyone knows he wants out. So everyone is basically offering crap. Seems like DM hasn't even offered Simmons yet anyway... not that you like/want him. Hold firm, don't do ****. Harden can b**** and pout all he wants. He's either going to show up and try, or not, which will REALLY hurt his reputation. Which is the only thing hes BARELY holding onto now. He's going to take a beating in the press if the Rockets hold firm and Harden is a dick (complaining, not putting in effort, etc.). The Rockets holding firm should at least force him to add Celtics and Raptors to his list, which would then include the top 6 east teams.
You keep Nunn and add KZ and Olynyk. Then hopefully you can flip Andre and PJ for something later on.
Off topic. Heard Denver wants P.J. Tucker. Could this be a chance to throw in Portland pick and nab Micheal Porter?
