Kemp didn't feel the need to stay in shape when he was making millions to do so. Only thing he hated more than a diet was condoms. I'm surprised he's not already riding around in a rascal now that he's long retired.
I would love to hear some of our clutchfans youngsters tell Kemp & Payton that they couldn’t compete with the players today. Those two cats were tough.
I saw Shawn Kemp smoke crack at a basketball court on Fondren during the NBA lock down... Still at this point he really needs to drop some weight, he is only like 50
That Sonics squad was fun to watch. These two guys were special no doubt about it. I really liked Kemp and it’s unfortunate his career ended the way it did.
One of the nastiest duos ever. They caused a lot of heartache and grief back in the day but damn were they fun to watch.
As a 99'er I hate to admit how much I enjoyed watching them. One of the coolest non-Title era runs (fans and city included) of all time. And IMO they were stretching the floor as much as the Rockets were back then if not more. Perkins, Shrempf, Hawkins.
I haaaated the Sonics in the 90s, but mostly because I feared them. Looking back that was a hell of a team (that fortunately lost in the first round in 94 and 95!) Shawn Kemp's dunk highlight reels may be my favorites of all the top dunkers. He had the right balance of power, acrobatics, and attitude. I always think good big man dunkers are the most exciting in game. Like Kersey, Kemp, and even Nique (not a big man, but he was tall, and dunked with a lot of power).
