Not sure it will really affect Rockets because they are projected to only carry 14 players for salary cap and roster flexibility. Coaches challenge is interesting albeit unsurprising too. But anything that can be weaponized into an advantage helps.
I hope Rockets target Hezonja, he would another bouncy athletic longer 6'7 option for Silas at 3/4. Maybe he could be Rockets version of Tyler Herro, just taller and more explosive. Hopefully he would be a late bloomer. Really good athlete and has confidence, just never translated to consistent play.
Hezonja is not a personal favorite but his addition would upgrade Rockets roster, which is the goal. He is athletic, long with guard skills and fits need at 3/4. And he is a legit NBA rotation player, unlike: Chris Clemons Trevelin Queen Brodric Thomas KJ Martin Hezonja has also been NBA starter and so better than: Jerian Grant Sterling Brown Jae'Sean Tate And not even counting the 2 way contracts: Mason Jones Kenny Wooten
And fyi, younare correct I've targetted many players for the Rockets based on the system being run and philosophy of FO and HC. Some of my targets in last 7 seasons: Nic Batum Trevor Ariza Eric Gordon Eric Bledsoe Robert Covington PJ Tucker Aaron Gordon Nerlens Noel Bruno Caboclo Christian Wood Harry Giles De'Anthony Melton Brandon Clarke Jonah Bolden Ryan Broekhoff Justin Anderson Mo Bamba Kelly Oubre Kenny Wooten Matisse Thybulle Tyler Herro Tyler Johnson Langston Galloway Kendrick Nunn Isaiah Joe Paul Reed Mamadi Diakite Shaq Harrison A lot of these players ended up acquired by Rockets or acquired by 76ers after Morey hired. Few others have been on Rockets radar, or specifically Morey's radar. My track record for players is not half bad.
I like Tate's energy but still not sold he deserves FT rotation minutes. Need to see more actual production on offense, maybe tomorrow. But there's no doubt, Tate plays rugged defense.
