Is this a crazy good roster and potentially fun team? Or am I just crazy?

    What?

His 16/17 season stats in most years before the bonkers Harden/Steph type years, would be good enough for MVP. He avg 23pts, almost 11 assists and 2 steals per game. Year before he averaged 1.9 steals per game. This isn't even looking really deep but I'm willing to be his advanced stats were great too. The guy was elite before getting bogged down health wise.

Vegas never puts out “ silly odds “ they put odds out that will win them money . Vegas is begging to get ppl to bet over on the wins . Remember Vegas never puts out bets they don’t think they will win .

VEGAS has rockets finishing 10 th in standings and under 35 wins . Vegas doesn’t hand out free money . I’ll trust that Vegas knows a little more about rocket basketball than you.

What does that have to do with whether Wall was ever elite? That was what you said. His problem is whether he can remain healthy, which honestly I wouldn't put money on but if he does manage to be his former self, he's an upgrade to Westbrook.

He’s not a upgrade from Westbrook at all . Not even close to a little bit . The fact that Vegas have the rockets at such a low total shows you that Vegas doesn’t value wall in the slightest . This team is garbage that will have a hard time beating the kings

    Wrong.

Vegas Odds are engineered to attract equal action on both sides of a betting line. That's all. This argument gets used all the time despite it being explained ad nauseum.

    If healthy.

There's a caveat to what I said but you chose to ignore it.

Maybe have a beer and calm down guy.

Wall is not an upgrade guys. He's been injured for 2 years basically coming off an Achilles injury. He was really awesome before, and he is a baller, but we don't know what we are getting here. The fit is as bad as it was with WB. He cant shoot and he needs the ball in his hand to be effective, which sucks, coz guess who needs the ball too? Harden, coz he doesn't do anything when he is off the ball, he doesn't even move.
Same with Boggie, he hasn't been healthy for a while. Stop thinking we are getting any of this guys at their prime. They both are likely to have up and downs seasons at best.
An as far as James goes, I'm not even sure how long he will be with the team. He clearly wants out, and if we found an offer we like or the thing gets really ugly, he will be gone.
I don't want to be pessimistic, but i think this would be a transition season into who knows what, but I'm not even sure we will make the playoffs. The talent is all there, but is the health there? is the fit? are they going to play hard or low ball to try to get out? Too many question marks.
So yeah, I'm not excited. I'm worried that we will be mediocre, having enough talent to be the number 10 seeds, miss the playoffs and don't get a good pick.
And by the way, if Wall sucks, we have the worst contract in the league, with 3 more years left.

If this team staye healthy and Harden actually focuses and tones down his selfishness it is actually a title contender.

I think he could be an upgrade to the system.

Remember, the Rox traded away Capela to make Russell being the system and Harden just doing his thing?

Russ is a scorer first and foremost, his assists come when he is attacking.

Wall assists more than he scores in the flow of the game IMO.

    Different beasts.

Rockets couldn’t capitalize when they had chances against lakers. Westbrook TOS. And Housegate were too much to overcome. Not to mention the 6 or so goal tends from lebron and AD.

I'm starting to agree with you. On paper it looks good. But when reality sets in, the Rockets are not good as what yall thought they would be. And when james harden leaves, the rockets wont make the playoffs.

Also remember the annoying double team Harden shtick. We had to rely on Westbrook attacking the rim against 7 footers as our alternative offense. Now, we have John Wall who can actually make a basketball play and potentially hit an open 3. We have Christian Wood who is a nice lob threat if/when the defense is scrambling trying to recover from a double team. Cousins can punish mismatches and is actually a very talented player.

No longer is it Harden dumping the ball off the double team, and watching Westbrook trying to create against a sagging defense while 3 other one dimensional role players stand around the edge and pick their noses. We might actually have some semblance of a diverse, well balanced offense this year to counter the defense which killed us against the Lakers.

If James thinks he can win with higher probability somewhere else after that team has to send someone meaningful our way then he is just dumb

    Exactly.
Not to mention Westbrick can't shoot and has an IQ of a 15yo.
This In a system where people needed to shoot and be smart in every play (small ball).

for as long as we get to roll out this 8-man rotation, i'm gonna be watching. The Harden trade will get made when we get the best offer and who knows how long that will be. But this might be a better roster than last year and i think Harden is being short-sighted if he doesn't think he can win with these guys. We might not be contenders, but if healthy this is as good as any team in the West save for the LA teams.

All Vegas is doing is factoring in the negative public sentiment towards the Rockets right now. They are simply setting a number that will attract equal action on both sides. A low number is just a representation of people expecting Harden to be traded AT THIS MOMENT. If the Rockets start out 7-3, it's clear they won't trade Harden this season, and look good in the process, you understand that that number will shoot up drastically, right?? You can choose to be pessimistic about the team all you want, but don't argue from a place of ignorance.

We have a tough opening schedule so if we start out with a good record, look out!

And lol at the poster up there not understanding vegas. You can bet on either side of the number so vegas wants it to be accurate.

Huh. Of course they put out silly odds. Bc silly odd gets the average better to play. The average better thinks Vegas wins every single time. Which is false

And looking at a number of comments in here from overnight there sure are a good number of average suckers
