And here's the attempt at "both parties do it" right on cue. I would note Hillary had all the same opportunities to file lawsuits; Dem AG's had the all the same opportunities to challenge the legitimacy of other states' elections on whatever nonsensical grounds they wanted to come up with. None of them did it.

Nah they just opined that Texas exercised proper jurisdiction to have the case heard by the Court under original jurisdiction. I don’t really have a problem with their analysis and they wouldn’t have granted any relief to Trump regardless

They've voiced the same opinion in other cases, so they're not being inconsistent here.

Given that three current GOP Reps in Mn supported this and the My Pillow Guy's offices aren't too far from the Mall of America might as well.

They're being way too strict with their interpretation. It's basically, "we don't care how stupid on multiple fronts a lawsuit it, in our belief, when a state sues another state, we're supposed to hear it." There's an interpretation disgreement from the 6 other justices (now 7 that Barrett has shown her cards) who believe there's discretion in OJ suits if there are other ways to deal with them (like other courts, like this case). Bigger than that is a practical problem: without a stupidity barrier, every state with a crazy AG can spam lawsuits against other states in front SCOTUS, and if everyone were like Alito and Thomas, SCOTUS would have to hear it. If this were accepted, it'd be a great strategy to prevent SCOTUS from doing absolutely anything else.

And...actually, they are the 2 judges on record saying they would strike the suit down. “we’ll hear you out, but we’ll vote against you”

The USSC rejecting this was expected but this isn't about the legality. None of the Trump's cases have had any success legally this is about the damage that it has done to the faith in the US election system and deepening the ongoing divide.

We had about a quarter of the US House of Representatives and a third of state AG's sign onto a "lawsuit" that was baseless, lacking in facts, hypocritical given what happened in their own states and most damning went against the very principles of Federalism that many of these people claim to hold sacred.

These people most likely cynically knew that this had no chance and they just went along with it out of self-interests and political expediency. At a time when cynicism and distrust of our elected officials is high they just gave very good reason why.

While true, this wasn't my point, that their opinion here was not motivated by Trump's involvement in the case.
