    Cop who pulled gun and pointed should at the very least get in big trouble. White collar crime search warrant and they are coming in like that is how people get shot up.

    @Xerobull posted an article:
    “You don’t send 12 armed officers to raid her computer for doing that. That’s Gestapo. That’s authoritarian dictator tactics. That’s not America. It really viscerally bothered me,” he told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

    ...and with that said , I can’t help but recall roger stone getting the predawn raid like they were after Pablo Escobar or something lol -
    Now she’s trying to get rich with go fund me accounts to profit on the publicity. No one cares where she lives or her phone number for that matter , plus she’s not attractive

    I actually thought the same. I get it, no one likes to have a barrel of a gun pointed in their faces. But I really don't like seeing these melodramatic complaints about how cops conduct raids. They've been pointing guns at people for a long time. That's what they do, and worse. And we've known about it all this time and were fine with it, more or less, fine enough to not do anything to make them change. Until one day when some minor political celebrity has a gun shoved in their face and now we're supposed to wax outrage at their treatment? No thanks. I feel sorry for this lady for many reasons -- the warrant itself seems unwarranted -- but having cops conduct a raid in their regular Gestapo fashion isn't one of them. If we don't like how we do police raids, why aren't we outraged when it happens to all the anonymous citizens who never get their names in the papers.

    Which is great. But let's not make the white alleged white-collar criminal the face of it. You can see the compartmentalization happen in how people talk about how the force is not commensurate with her threat -- and she's not threatening because she's white, white-collar, female, with children. So police at best will be more careful about pointing guns at sympathetic figures with status, but if you're black, poor, working class, male -- well the subtext is that it's still okay to bring overwhelming force when you raid their homes. And that's some BS. No kid gloves for white middle class families. Lead by professionalizing policing in marginalized communities first. Otherwise, we'll just continue the parallel justice systems in which people with status remain blithely ignorant of the injustices suffered by those without status.

    "It's terrible, but since we don't complain about all the ones we don't hear about, we shouldn't complain about this one!" You pick the weirdest hills to die on.

    Speaking of dying on meaningless hills, I think his point is the outrage should be brought up in a case where its commonly abused (minorities), not a white privleged 'minor political celeb'. Its not a pretty picture to say its ok for minorities to get subjected to this behavior, but not middle class white people. That is the optics of the situation.

    I'd point you to the last 6 months of protests that have engulfed the country, Colin Kaepernick and the entire BLM movement over the last 4 years, and the recent defund-the-police movements. This idea of demilitarizing the police and having accountability and treating citizens with decency is not new or specific to this woman. This is just the latest example and shows how broad the problem is - and that it's not limited to poor minorities. Cases like this bring it to light to people that may have ignored it otherwise as only happening to bad people that did bad things, as some groups in this country like to promote.
