We could just go back to the Articles of Confederation and do that. That didn't work in 1789, trying to actually split the country didn't work in 1860 and we're not going to divide it now in the way that you're arguing. Why should people from Austin or Houston have to move or people from Fresno or Upstate NY.

We're going to have to figure out how to live with each other.

Dood, 33 states can sue 17 states if we do a Klingon time warp after the Snowpublican time warp.

    Wow, Sasse nailed it.

we should clearly remove presidential pardons. They’ve never made sense to me, going back to Reagan and Clinton pardons.

The treaty of Versailles was just an idea.
It's actually a very catchy thread title.

It was clear Texas was gonna be trouble as soon as Mexico abolished slavery:

Mexican authorities became increasingly concerned about the stability of the region.[7] The colonies teetered at the brink of revolt in 1829, after Mexico abolished slavery.[18] In response, President Anastasio Bustamante implemented the Laws of April 6, 1830, which, among other things, prohibited further immigration to Texas from the United States, increased taxes, and reiterated the ban on slavery.[19] Settlers simply circumvented or ignored the laws. By 1834, an estimated 30,000 Anglos lived in Coahuila y Tejas,[20] compared to only 7,800 Mexican-born residents.[21] By the end of 1835, almost 5,000 enslaved Africans and African Americans lived in Texas, making up 13 percent of the non-Indian population.

I don't think we can figure out how to live with one another at least along political lines.

You can still have the USA, but you'd break it up into political unions. One being the red union and the other the blue union. With each having its own court system and congress. You can even have one president if you want to simplify things.

So yeah, basically just have two congresses. For a law to apply to both blue and red unions, it has to pass both sets of congresses. But to apply to one, just one union. This way everyone is happy.

You don't have to move if you don't want to but then you live under the law of the mass majority. More would get done. You wouldn't have the crazy gridlock.

You guys do realize that Biden won Houston by a bigger margin than any other Dem since the 50s?
This would be like y'alls favorite, Hidalgo, wanting to remove Houston from Texas for that reason. Then the other cities that Biden won, STx, RGV and so on following suit.
What's Texas without those cities? Vin Baker poor. [IMG]
