Hmm.... was bout to make some of those this week (actually was googling about them when I saw this), but was just going to throw them in "oven" mode in the toaster oven and bake them instead of air fry.
I did a boudin stuffed bacon wrapped bell pepper the other day in my air fryer and it was fantastic. When I’m too lazy to light up my pizza oven, which is the best imo, I use the air fryer for bacon wrapped dishes.
I’m tempted to get an air fryer now after reading this thread. But I already know I’ll probably only use it a handful of times and end up hate seeing it on my countertop. Pretty sure it will end up with the panini press, toaster, Belgian waffle maker, pressure cooker, slow cooker, coffee maker etc. in the cupboard. How often do you guys use yours?
My mistake. But don't take it out at this 2nd generation Houston institution that's been serving us since 1975. Seriously, I have no idea how they are so nice.
Spoiler: These are delicious in an air fryer https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes...deep-fried-rocky-mountain-oysters-recipe.html
I'll use it 3-5 times over a 2 week period and then it will sit for a month and half. I tend to go through phases on what I use to cook (e.g., old smokey, sues vide, air fryer, cast iron skillet, stainless steel skillet).
The overwhelming majority of stuff does NOT taste better in an air fryer. I am apparently a high taster and I also pretty picky about how and what I cook and eat based on taste. My wife and our girlfriend decided it would be a good idea to get one. The first two times I used it, I would say it was about 75% as good as fried or in an over. However after that I quickly got used to it and it does make a HUGE difference from a health stand point. Some things cook really well in it, chicken thighs for example.
I'm not a huge fan of chicken thighs, or bacon for that matter, but if it helps land me a girlfriend I'm in. Will run it past Santa...
Well of course. It should have been obvious when I admitted to dipping my fries in mayo... and liking it!
