I know some Packers fans who completely acknowledge Rodgers limitations/weakness' right now. He's an all time great, and has adapted his game as he's gotten older, but he no longer can do whatever the F he wants out there. Watson can do whatever the F he wants out there... and he's getting better at it each/every week. He's making practice squad players look dangerous. He dissected a Belichick defense that just made Herbert look like he wet the bed (and before everybody clamors about the age gap, Watson also did that to Belichick in his rookie year). His ability to make the right line reads, change the play, and find a different open receiver on any given pass is a stark reflection of him being the "complete package". The one downside is that he does try to make something out of nothing on plays he may be better served to abort... largely due to his abilities to do things that not many other QB's can accomplish.... but to see people spending all day/night trying to find the flaws, its comical.
Lying? Lies? What the **** are you talking about? Seems like you're the one who's not a fan of the responses you're receiving, but you've made the choice to take this stance... don't be offended when people are rightly calling you out on your bullshit.
No, there are certainly organizations that would rather have Watson at his salary over a rookie in Trevor Lawrence. There are teams that want to win right now, and there is always a concern when you have a rookie QB. I did not say every team would take Watson, I didn't even say a majority.... but the idea that every team in the NFL would take Lawrence over Watson is simply false. Allen isn't putting up better numbers than Watson, and Allen has far better coaching, a better line and better skill players around him. It is nothing against Allen, he has played very well and really progressed, but he isn't as good as Watson and he has a far better support system. Herbert is putting up great numbers, and as I said, he may turn out better than Watson but there is no way to know until he does. There have been other QB's that had very strong rookie seasons and did not really develop and others that became great. Either way, he currently isn't as good as Watson. I am not some Texans homer either. While I am a fan, I find them to be a very difficult organization to root for. They have incompetent ownership that has no real interest in anything except making money. They have largely had poor coaches and general managers and the best players in their franchise history have been wasted. Still, right this minute Watson is a top 3 QB in the NFL, and he isn't old........... that is an incredibly valuable building block and Watson deserves credit for emerging from the **** bath that is the Texans.
Lying, yes. Not being objective. Claiming Watson is better than Wilson, that’s a lie. Claiming Watson hasn’t had weapons, that’s a lie. Claiming Watson hasn’t had inconsistencies (less this year), that’s a lie. Im not upset at all with any of you, it’s just obvious there is no objectivity. You want so bad to have an elite QB that you can’t see he wasn’t there yet, well on his way if he keeps up this years level of play and team can start winning.
I agree with you completely about the Texans, Watson is the only bright spot for the future. He is one of my favorite quarterbacks. And Allen is absolutely putting up better numbers than Watson in quite a few categories, I wouldn’t trade for Allen because I think it’s at best a lateral move.
Argument for arguments sake I guess. Until Watson has more success and play in the playoffs, he’s not up there with Mahomes, Rodgers and Wilson.
Why do you think he's not elite right now? The majority of the objective world disagrees with you at the moment... which sorta makes you the one who's more agenda driven and not being fully objective.
I actually do think he’s elite right now, he is playing elite right now. I just think it’s a tier below the top 3. Im also looking at the league as a whole and seeing weird trends. The level of quarterback play overall is ridiculous.
Sounds like the lack of team success is hindering your viewpoint... but If you're going to solely rely upon playoff/team success as the ultimate marker, get ready to bust out your Nick Foles jersey. There have been elite QB's who didn't have the team around them they needed to reach ultimate success... even further scores how "bad" the team must be, which is why what he's doing right now (with no running game, and questionable weapons) that much more impressive. Not sure why you think he's got the luxuries that other elite QB's have. He's doing things despite not having those.
Because he has had those amenities previously. And the things I like most is the improvements in decision making, not as many poor throws and smarter runs. Also, Green Bay, Seattle and even the Bills don’t have as many luxuries as thought. Whether it’s poor defense, poor Oline, poor depth at receiver, average run game (still better than Texans) All 3 of those teams have average to well below average defenses.
Honestly, you are right. My responses aren’t meant to hurt or denigrate from Watson. I love the kid. I have a hard time not responding to putting down of other players or not looking at the entirety. That comes across as knocking Watson and it’s not my intention. That’s my bad. There are literally 10-15 quarterbacks putting up historic numbers right now.
I just don't think every QB has "it" from the get go. Maybe if he sat a year, had a QB coach like Andy Reid has his mentor, had a HOF QB like Brett Farve to understudy from.... sounds like the initial plan was to have him "learn"... but alas, he was thrown in the second half of the first game of the year after being named the backup. I do think he relied too much on Hopkins when things were on the line. I do think they had a much better ability to run the ball (as recently as last year) which may have taken away some of his reads. But he's grown/developed/improved...and is continuing to improve. There are no lies surrounding these aspects. While he continues to improve, the team around him continues to fall apart due to bad management... which is even more a testament to his accomplishments, and likely why I'm more impressed/vocal about him now vs. any other time where this team was winning 10-11 games/year.
I've been going 'round and 'round with this guy, watching him flaccidly wiggle his way out of any confirmation of Watson's greatness (SMALL SAMPLE SIZE! TOO EXPENSIVE!). He thinks Wilson is better - which is not totally unreasonable, obviously: but as I've pointed out several times, the numbers say otherwise. Apparently, my listing of every relevant QB metric - to show Watson is better - is "cherry-picking." Then he'll select 1-2 stats (+ WINZ, of course) and SEE?!?! He won't even accept a fairly benign - and wholly accurate - notion that the Texans have played a remarkably harder schedule. Nope! You see, it's only harder because those teams have fattened up on the Texans. I finally muted him & highly recommend not letting him suck you into his vortex. If you're not fully embracing - and enjoying - Deshaun Watson.... why are you a fan?
Show the rest of the list lol. And while Watson is better right now than Kyler and Herbert, they’re on 1st and 2nd year of contract and putting up numbers. If you could restart with Watson level years as a rookie or second year player on a rookie contract, I think most would do that with this roster.
The Bills traded *for* an elite WR; the Texans traded *away* an elite WR. That, by itself, should shine a pretty bright light on the organizations. Add on a significantly better defense and coaching staff and....... Trade QBs and my guess is team records would be roughly the same. Allen is having a great year. And the Texans would be 4-8 with him.
Where did I say small sample size? You are flat out wrong and you don’t want to admit it. You are the worst kind of fan, one that thinks they’re intelligent and objective but is actually neither. You pick and choose stats, but they don’t apply to younger players that are performing well because they haven’t done it long enough and then use that as a negative against Wilson. So you’re unintelligent, very subjective and a hypocrite. You also pick and choose what I’ve said to respond to. I’ve ranked Watson where he is, right now. You somehow think that I’m saying he’s bad because he’s not a top 3 QB.
The way I see it is trading Hopkins was the price it took to get rid of BOB. I seriously doubt they would be 4-8 because I doubt they would get shut out for three 1/2 of games. Pittsburgh/Colts/Packers. 2 of which happened after BOB was fired.
