    Against common opponents

    vs TEN
    Watson: 335 yds 4 TD 0 INT
    Allen: 263 yrds 2 TD 2 INT

    vs NE
    Watson: 344 yds 2 TD 0 INT
    Allen: 154 yds 0 TD 1 INT

    vs KC
    Watson: 253 yds 1 TD 1 INT
    Allen: 122 yds 2 TD 1 iNT

And oh yeah, Watson is 1-2 in these games. Same as Josh Allen.

Maybe Josh Allen is racking up stats against bad defenses?

Maybe the Texans can trade David Johnson for Diggs.

The Deshaun "hate" is pretty comical... but also pretty typical of some fans mindset around here. You will see constant moving of the goal-post to try and detract from his accomplishments.

In the end, there's no GM out there who would trade Watson for any QB other than Mahomes. The people slobbering over Allen, Herbert, Mayfield, Carr are just always going to try to justify why Watson isn't as good... and that's a bigger joke than the Texans front office at this point.

Taking out Mahomes & Rodgers, stupid Dominique Foxworth says Watson is/could be MVP. :D

(Stat on screen: Watson has accounted for 89% of Texans offense, most by a player in last 20 seasons)

Watson is one of the top 5 quarterbacks in the NFL and likely one of the top 3.... and that is without NEAR the support staff on the field and sidelines that Mahomes has. Aaron Rodgers is better and doesn't have a lot to work with either, but he is one of the 5 best quarterbacks to ever play.

The sad thing is that the Texans franchise is so pathetic that they still cannot win with one of the elite QB's in the game.

Houston, where superstar talent goes to carry heavy burdens and not receive appropriate support.

Shows how great he is... went from a not-for-sure prospect, drafted 12th overall, and developed into what he is now.

I believe teams develop QB's just as much as QB's elevate teams... its a symbiotic relationship that has scores of examples over the years of teams failing a QB with talent and talented QB's unable to put in the work or grasp concepts to adapt his game to the NFL.

All that being said, the Texans should not have been able to to turn Watson into the QB he is today with their internal dysfunction. Elevated Deshaun to even another level that he was able to become the man he is. He didn't sit for a year like Mahomes and Rodgers did. He didn't have an o-line worth anything when he was inexplicably put in his first game after being named the "backup" to start the season, but that changed at halftime of the very first game of the season. And while BOB was touted to be a QB guru and certainly had some role in his development... he didn't have the type of offensive genius or understudy to an all time great that Mahomes/Rodgers had.

In the end, there is a window to put key pieces around him and turn this around quickly. The AFC will be ruled by the Chiefs for the time being, but pretty much nobody else is unbeatable or on the cusp of domination. Get a forward thinking GM. Get an offensive coach who can take what's already there and build off it. The hardest part (finding and developing an elite QB) has already been done.

Who has been slobbering for Mayfield and Carr?
No one is even slobbering for Allen and Herbert, simply stating they are putting up similar numbers to Deshaun-which is absolutely accurate.
    Plus they’re on rookie contracts.

And as far as Mahomes being the only one GMs would trade Watson for, that has qualifiers. If it was just for the next 4-5 years (typical championship window) Rodgers, Mahomes, Wilson would all be above him.
If it’s to build around, there are some young guys that are still on rookie deals that might not be as good but cost a lot less.
It is an absolute guarantee that the team with the number 1 overall pick would not trade it for Watson.
None of that takes away from Watson, he is really freaking good. On the verge (if he keeps up this play) of being elite. One year of consistent high level play isn’t an “accomplishment” it’s a start.

Top 5, yes. Top 3 are elite, he’s not there yet.

You're putting a lot of effort into trying to detract and diminish where Watson is right now, despite limited resources (coaching or personnel) around him.

    Why is that?

Anyways, keep trying... each week that Watson excels is good for the overall growth of this franchise going forward and they are fortunate to have secured his services to play for them for the upcoming several years.

    How am I detracting?
It’s a regulation of the over valuing, a dose of reality. This is the first year where Watson has put up top 5 numbers. He’s had help in previous years and didn’t.
You and some others seem to be more Watson fans than Texans fans. And also live in a bubble where no other QBs are doing similar-all you have to do is look.

I have not attacked Watson period, there are probably only 2 options I would choose right now over him when all things are factored in.
    Mahomes and Lawrence.
But keep on over defending lol.
Let me ask you this, why is it that you and others make excuses and over defend? Why is that?
    Seems a little suspect.

They are not putting up numbers as good as Watson and in the case of Allen, he has a lot better coaching and weapons. Herbert could prove to be as good or maybe better than Watson, but we just don't know yet.

No. Over the next 4-5 years I would take Watson over Rogers (a lot older) and Wilson (older). 4-5 years in an eternity in the NFL.

The Texans organization is disgusting, they wasted Watson during his rookie contract. However the difference between a good and great QB is huge. I will take Watson with less cap space.

No it isn't. This isn't true at all. There are a lot of front offices and coaches that will take one of the 3-4 best QB's in their prime over a rookie QB with more cap space. Teams spend decades sometimes trying to get a QB like Watson.

He isn't on the verge of being elite, he is elite right now. At worse he is currently one of the 5 best QB's in the NFL and is likely one of the top 3 based on circumstance. He is on a team devoid of talent, a line that is pathetic. He had a pathetic mentor that attempted to turn him into a game manager and yet he has some how still emerged from it all........ after a full week of practice, and still with mediocre coaching, but free of BOB on his shoulder, he has gone from very good to elite........ he has thrown a single interception since the team made changes, and it has been nearly half a season....... he leads the league in YPA and is in the top 2-5 in all the other important ones. He really is THAT good.

Watson is just about the ONLY positive for the Texans.

You can make a very strong argument that he is the third best QB in the league right now, behind only Rogers and Mahomes.

He went from being suspect/not a for-sure starting QB, a "runner", a "weak arm", a "lack of smarts to dissect complicated defenses...".... to now being maligned because he has only now turned into an elite QB in his 5th year despite even less overall talent and coaching prowess surrounding him? Was he supposed to be elite from day one? Was he supposed to have already won by now... with this team, this coaching staff, this front office?

You're moving the goal post... intentionally... not sure why? He's a great QB... likely better than most thought he would be when the Texans traded for him... and he's getting better.

Nobody is over-valuing and calling him TD Jesus... but c'mon, if you can't see what you're doing as being downright contrarian to be contrarian, I can't help you.

But feel free to put another 40 posts/page to defend your stance. Its telling that you're getting more defensive/reactionary with each post.

No one would trade Trevor Lawrence for Watson. I’m sorry, it’s just not true lol.

You say it’s circumstance, team picking first wouldn’t trade a potentially elite QB making 40 mil a year for a potentially elite QB on a rookie deal.
Allen is putting up better numbers than Watson, Herbert has put up the best rookie season of all time. That is detracting from them to prop up Watson. The truth is, those two specifically (Watson and Allen) are putting up huge numbers and are right there for best seasons after the top 3.
What weapons does Allen have outside of Diggs? He was putting up similar numbers to Fuller and Cooks was putting up better numbers than their number 2. They have a rookie starting running back but better run system.

The reaction is from the constant lying from you and others. There is no objectivity. And yes I do respond to those that respond to me, that is the nature of a forum. Discussion.
If you don’t like it, don’t respond. Simple.

I have not moved a single goalpost, nor have I changed my stance. I have never said Watson was subpar, or a runner, or a weak arm. You can conflate others all you want, but don’t put words in my mouth.

I am as happy as anyone that Watson is ballin, still don’t think his contract lines up with a full team rebuild.
