    One More thing

Sports rely on the person watching it then and there
only the most hard core of fans watch games that they already know the outcome of

Where did you get this info? My understanding was that the athletes don't get paid anything for appearing in the SC commercials.

I'm patiently waiting for Apple's live streaming service to debut. If there's anyone out there that can really tip the scales away from the cable companies it's Apple.

Cable companies still control the pipes. To make up for their lost cable revenue they will jack up the bandwidth caps.

This is what is likely to be the crappy part about these layoffs. Instead of laying off a dozen ex-NFL players who say absolutely nothing of substance and get paid handsome sums for it or the hot take artists, they are probably going to lay off hundreds of low-level editors, writers, camera operators, and production assistants.

The 1 hr highlight package show is on NBC... Dan Patrick is actually better than Berman, and I can accept Harrison/Dungy as the replacement for Jackson.

They even have background music now very similar to what the old primetime had.

I think they'll lower bandwidth caps, jack up overage charges and start collaborating with RIAA and MPAA on proactively reporting torrents; either for kickbacks or to incentivize some premium IP masking service.

Nobody's going to stream with commercials, and corporate advertising is the ocean of money that makes basic cable such a favorable strategic option to direct streaming.

Yep but I think the trend is interesting. Gen Y is streaming everything and forgoing cable/dish preferring to binge content provided by HBO, Netflix, etc. But our kids aren’t even doing that they mainly turn the TV on to watch YouTube on a larger screen. I’m curious when my 8 and 9 year olds are in their 30s will they want to binge shows or will TV itself slowly decline as an activity.

Well ESPN has it's own app like HBO and Netflix.

I don't think they'll have a preference outside of social gatherings. My 15yo is perfectly happy to watch on his phone.

It's the "You already pay for this channel but now buy our streaming service too" game that has me close to finally cancelling cable.

I’m glad Lebatard is getting out of his contract. He will be amazing on a platform that doesn’t muzzle him.
