How many players have played on a final year of their contract without public knowing about their displeasure? And I say this as a Longhorn. I loved Tucker. But no dude. This comes off snarky but it’s also respectful. He doesn’t want to tell people what Hardens “excuse is.” Harden is a grown man and can answer for himself why he isn’t there.
Love that PJ is at least at camp. He has to understand that his value to this organization is so much higher and worth a new contract if he is playing next to Harden. He is a perfect 4 to complement Harden especially if we Wood or Cousins at the 5 next to him as well. If Harden signs an extension here or at least shows up to camp ready to play, then maybe we should consider giving Tucker a short term extension. He has to understand though that his value is tied to his buddy Harden who is currently pounding strippers in Vegas and hanging out with no name rappers. Obviously PJ would have value on a lot of teams but if the Rockets are to trade Harden and rebuild around a young star like Simmons, etc. then PJ Tucker is probably not someone you want on the payroll unless he truly wants to be here and is comfortable with the lower contract number that is likely to be offered for a rebuilding franchise.
The media is acting like this is New York. Asking the same question over and over to people who don't have the answers to just get a response. Kind of a bad look. I'm disappointed in everyone asking about Harden ten times to every player not named James or coach. Brian Smith and Tim McMahon are instigators but others are asking the same damn questions over and over.
I thought that's what the media does? James not being with the Rockets is a huge story and I would expect every media outlet, small or large, to be inquiring about it, even if the answer does not change.
